Oh well no 100 pounders…
Last blog I said I would try to press 100 lbs dumbbells, but went to the gym in the p.m and was no one around for a spot. Seeing as though I like my skull intact. I opted for smith barbell presses, I wanna max out and with no one around to "save" me, that’s the safest .
Here we go
Smith barbell presses (for this exercise I subtract the weight of the bar ie: if it were a real bench, I would add 45 lbs)
215 2x 5
225 1x 2
Incline dumbbell presses
90 2×8
Weighted dips
90 2×4
Machine shoulder presses (the plates on this vintage machine are labeled from a to z, not with numbers)
S 2×6
T 1×4
Dumbbell laterals
40 2×6
Cable pushdowns
140 2×8
Dumbbell extensions
40 2×6
Pretty good workout for me . I beat my previous maxes for flat bench , dips and shoulder presses. Next time it’s legs, I havn’t figured if I’m going for high reps or low, I guess we’ll see .

I would think DB’s would be the safest to use and especially to max out with if you don’t have a spotter. If you get to the point you can’t do any more, you can at least throw the DB’s away from you. You can’t throw a BB, especially a Smith bar. It’s definitely coming down on you!
But anyway, I’m glad you got your workout in, and I hope you reach your maxing goals. Good luck!

Hey bb24 thanks for reading my blog
Well in theory, I agree with the db’s being safer, once they’re up! Getting them from on my knees in a seated position to flat on my back with those db’s right on top of my face is what concerns me. Once there, yes, I could jettison them easily as you say.
thanks for the input !
