"Back up to 215lbs...and yes...again I'm round. I've fallen off the wagon so to speak. I can' seem to find the motivation to get back into it. Hopefully I can soon, this is getting a little rediculouse. Time for a change, just need the how."

Off week…and…hostile territory?

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

My off week was timed perfectly and I couldn’t of planned it any better if I had control.  Had to go across state for three days this week (day one today) for training.  My dealer just got the Isuzu Medium duty franchise and I’m the guy they sent to train.  Logical choise as I’m the one that’s been doing most of the GM and Isuzu medium duty for years anyway.   I’m also the guy that has the most expierence w/ diesel in the shop.  I’m also the one that has the most drive to WANT to work on this stuff.  So…a 4 hour drive after work yesterday, I role in around 9:00pm.  I’m the kinda guy that likes to know what’s gonna happen before it happnes.  So the night before, I spent an hour or so on google maps planning everything out.  My route to the hotel from home, then to the dealer we are doing the training at.  Then all the restraunts in the surrounding area.  I used both map and satallite images, so I already knew what to everything looks like.  I didn’t even need the directions I printed out.  I some how memorized all the street names at home that I would need.  All of them numbers.  I come from a town of around 350,000+.  We actually use NAMES for streets.  Up here in Lynnwood, everything is a number.  Dosn’t matter if it runs N&S or E&W.  So…that was a miracle in and of itself, that I memorized ANYTHING.

Anyway, got to the hotel, checked in.  I was on the fourth floor (top floor) all the way in back.  No problem.  Get up to my room.  What’s the first thing I notice?  Someone has used a crow bar inbetween the door jam and door at the latch to pry the door open.  The scratches are fresh.  I bring all my stuff into the room anyway, glad for the first time I’ve brought my Ruger P94 w/ 4 loaded spare mags.  Usually it’s just dead weight.  (yes I have a permit to carry concealed-and yes I know the time I need it will be the time I DON’t bring it).  So…I’m sitting in the room and unwinding after the drive, thinking a bit.  I decide to go look around.  I check all the places in my room where anyone can hide for one.  Then, I check the door again.  I’m out in the hall and find all the other doors have steel plates bolted to the door jam in front of the latch to prevent that kinda thing from happening.  Except mine.  There is no plate nor has there ever been one on this door.  Second thing I notice, I’m right next to the stair case.  There is a camera in the all.  Right in front of my door.  It’s about 2 feet in front of the door and 2 feet from the wall (my door is in a corner at the end of the hall).  So, someone can come up the stairs hand hug the wall, get behind the camera and jimmy the door.

I WAS gonna just deal w/ it.  Figuring it was an isolated incident.  But the more I thought bout it, the more I didn’t want to chance it.  So I went down to the desk, told the night manager about it.  He comes up to take a look, and tells me he will move me to a diff. room.

Much better, the internet even works in this room (not the other one).  Still got the Ruger by the bed though and it goes everywhere I do.  Talked to a buddy of mine last night who used to live up here and he said this isn’t all that great of a neighbor hood.  Got outa class early today, so now I gotta figure out what to do w/ my time.  The powers that be at work thought it would be quite funny to give me the purple Equinox to drive up here.  Sheez, talk about embaressing.

So, this is my off week.  Good thing too.  The wieght room is pitifull here.  A bike, an eliptical, and a multi-station cable machine w/ a weight stack.  It’s backed up against the wall so even if I wanted to attempt to waste the time, I could only do about two things on it.

Maybe I’ll take a nap.  Not much else to do and it sounds pretty good.

Wry neck SUCKS!-Any info?

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Wry neck-also known as Torticollis or Loxia.  I’ve had it for about 6 years and had around 8 episodes.  The last one I had to be taken to the hospital in the middle of the night by my parents while the wife stayed at home w/ the baby.  THAT was a bad one.  I’ve known no other pain like that one.  I had never heard about it until that night.  Then it was diagnosed.  Then I googled it.  It’s most prevelant in infants and rabbits (yes I said rabbits-kinda wierd huh).  But when it’s happening…it’s nothing to laugh about.  For 3-4 days, it OWNS you.  Guess what else?  It can be be genetic (inherited).

So, this morning, my wife calls me and says, "So, you want to know how your son is really yours?"  Then she tells me he woke up w/ it this morning (most often acts up when you’ve been sleeping, 5 of my 8 episodes have been this way, as is his first).  I can barely handle it when it’s on me.  But on your 3 year old.  There is nothing you can do.  You can’t make the pain go away (and it’s excrutiating…I know!), you can’t make it better, every movement (even something as little as moving your leg-something you totally wouldn’t associate w/ your neck muscles), is an endevour all in itself.  The first time it happened to me, I had to have my wife shower me, dry me, dress me cause I couldn’t move. (that was my second worst one, this last one where I ended up in the hospital was the worst).

He is only three, he dosn’t know whats going on, it’s so hard to relay to a three year old to relax.  He figured out pretty quick not to move, my wife found him in bed this morning w/ a puddle of tears under his face whimpering to himself cause he couldn’t move and to scared to make much more of a sound.  It’s bad enough when it’s me, what the frick am I supposed to do when it’s him?  Sheez

Anyone ever had any expierence w/ this?  Any recomendations?

Snow removal-great chest work out

Monday, January 28th, 2008

I live in desert.  If it snows here it probably won’t even cover anything.  If it does, it snows just enough to put a half an inch covering on the ground, then, with in 24 hours, it’s gone.  We are known for our wind.  In the winter time it’s a snoock.  Just the way it is.  Yet, once every 5 years, it dumps on us and sticks around for around a week.  What does that mean?  Well, the Tri-Cities shuts down.  Everyone goes 10MPH and freaks out doing it (I remember going to school in Laramie back in 98′ [crap, a, "back in **", story, guess I’m getting old], I would drive to Denver every weekend to stay w/ my grandparents.  There would be 10" on the highway, more falling, bumper to bumper traffic and we’d still be going 10 over the 75MPH speed limit-now THEY knew how to drive!).  All schools cancel, all "non-essential personal" out at Hanford either don’t have to show up, or get to show up at noon.  I still have to go into work and have to be there on time.  Yet when it snows as much as it did yesterday (11" in 18hrs), the road crews don’t know what to do.  The only street in the whole Tri-Cities that gets plowed….is mine.  One of the guys that drive’s the snow plows lives two doors down (isn’t that a band?).  I don’t live in a small town.  Yet it’s not really that large either.  Guess it just depends on where your from.  300,000 for the Tri-Cities and the 9 or 10 small sub.’s around the area.  So, there is enough traffic I suppose.  A huge influx the last 10 years (when we were around 150,000).  So, the roads are a little inaddiquite.  But that’s another topic.

The other thing about that 11" is, I had to go and find the snow shovel, then figure out how to unbury it from the 5 years of accumulated junk that now resides on top of it.  After that, I got to expierence the joy of shoveling that 11" off my driveway and sidewalk for the next couple hours that I had somehow managed to forget from the last time.  It’s kinda fun…for the first couple minutes (it’s not like we get a lot of opportunities to play in the snow around here), then it gets old real fast.  Anyway, this morning, my chest is killing me!  Right in the middle, feels like my rib cage is trying to seperate.  Right where they crack ya open to get into your chest cavaty, and wouldn’t ya know it!  My chest routine was today!  I debated doing something else, but in the long run, thought it might actually help.

Well, it’s 15 hours later…I don’t think it helped…though I don’t think it hurt either.  Least I got my work out in.  Didn’t have time for the ab portion, will have to add it onto one of my other workouts this week.

Forcast is for more snow tonight and tomarrow.  Don’t really know what to think about that.  A little is ok, but getting around in this in a 92′ Lexus SC400 is pretty much impossible in this stuff.  I was lucky enough today that the wife wanted to stay home for the day and I was able to take the Durango into work.  That thing had no problem, but tomarrow, I’ll probably have to take the Lexus.  What a nightmare that’ll be.  Not looking forward to it…that’s for sure.  Maybe tonight the road dept. will figure it out and plow my route to work.  Unlikely, but one can hope.

Chest

Incline DB Bench Press

65×6, 65×6, 65×6

Flat DB Bench Press

65×6, 65×6

Smith Machine Decline Bench Press

140×6, 140×6

Pretty short workout, but didn’t have time for anymore.  Least I got something in.

Hip flexor cramp?

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Just wondering if anyone else has had hip flexor problems?  I’ve noticed for around 14yrs or so, that in certain conditions or positions, my left hip flexor will cramp and it’s incredibly painful.  I notice it when I get on a horse or a bike, or when I’m doing seated calve raises.  I notice it in a handfull of other times as well, but not as frequently in the other positions to remember.  Anyway, just wondering.

So…I found out today that when the chrome starts to peel off the verticle slides on a smith machine, it can be very sharp!!  I was adjusting the saftey stops up for my standing calve raises, I was sliding my pinky finder up the rail w/ the safety stop (unintentional) and it sliced me like a razor blade would, deep, clean, and wouldn’t stop bleeding.  So I went and took care of it, then came back and tried to find the place on the machine that it happened, found it, tried to clean it off w/ other finger and ended up slicing that one open too.  Talk about feeling stupid.

No other reason for this post, other than the question.  I guess I’m just rambling now.  Didn’t get off work until late, about 7:00, (usually about 5:00), had ANOTHER Duramax come in on the hook, this one w/ the lower end cooked.  Just tore apart one from a Kodiak on Monday that sent two rods through the side of the block.  Now I’ve got two Duramax’s torn down and both need to be replaced.  Guess I’ve got plenty of work for the next week.

Ya, I’m still wasting your time,

hehehe

Hostage Rescue-Night paintball island game

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

Tomarrow night is the night for the senerio.  A hostage (manican body) in a tent on an island about 200 feet off shore.  Objective? Rescue the hostage and get it back to main land w/ no hits on it or you.

Last year we had about 50 people for the game.  This game is getting pretty well known in the state, Spokane was supposed to come down and play us this time, but they can’t, border wars between them and Idaho.  Oh well, would have been 50 on 50, but I think it will just e 25 on 25 again if we can get the same turn out.  Gets dark around 10:00.  Signal flare to start the first game- 1 hour time limit.  Head and torso shot’s only, limbs don’t count…unless you can’t take it ;) .  No night vision (kinda a bummer).  Last time was intense and completely fun.  Won’t get to bed till around 3:00 in the morning prob.  but that’s ok.  I got a throat mic to try out, we’ll see how it works.

Last time we guarded the island the first game and attacked the second.  Don’t know this time.  When we attacked, I tried to keep my paint pods and gun dry, but I got a little to far into the water.  My gun is electronic and it got wet.  It started to intermiantly go off full auto.  It finally stopped, I reloaded (this is all on the shore of the island were there is enemy all around-nothing like giving away your position), and started making my way inland w/ three other team members, then it happened, we were on our belly’s crawling in…slow.  I was second in line, my gun went off…full auto and wouldn’t shut off no matter what.  I straiffed my own guy from toe to mid back (about 30 rounds), then we started taking rounds from every were.  We managed to get in undetected, but as soon as my gun went off, game was over, we barely got out w/ the one guy we lost.  Moral of the story…don’t get your electronics wet!  Not only does it not work well, but can turn a bad situation into a nightmare.

This time I coated all my electronics w/ a water proof spray that’s supposed to protect against that stuff.  That and I’m carrying a side arm strapped to my leg that is NOT electroic…just in case.

Last time the hills across the river were on fire.  HUGE fire, we had fire trucks flying past us on the highway on the other side of the lake all night.  Cast an orange glow over everything…very sereal, added a very real, unplanned but VERY cool aspect to the senerio.  Seriously doubt we can get that agian…but it would be nice.

Anyway, time to start zeroing in the diet…getting ready to start lifting again on Monday.  This not lifting for a week crap is driving me nut!

Later yo

Oh ya, my buddy at work gets to shoot at SWAT on Saturday!  I’m a little pissed…very jelouse.  He knows a guy on the SWAT team and they are running a hostige senerio on a bus.  He gets to be one of the hostage takes.  They don’t use paintball guns either… they use simunitions!  The real deal.  I told him if they need another hostige taker I’d help out.  Don’t think it’s gonna happen though.

It’s been two weeks…

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

since you’ve last posted.  Since then, there have been….

Guess It’s been two weeks since I last posted on hear.  Least that’s what the email told me.  Don’t really keep up w/ this like I used to.  But I am keeping up w/ diet and work-outs very diligantly.  No missed work-outs, diet has been fairly good-though I’v been nursing an injured kneck for the past two weeks, makes most of my work-outs so-so and pretty painfull.  I think it’s starting to get better, though that’s what I said a week ago, and it flared up again.  Had to go to the emergency room bout a year ago w/ it at midnight and it was diagnosed as Wry Neck.  It’s been on again off again for about 5 years now.  It’s NOT fun, and comes and goes in varying degrees of pain/un-mobility/seriousness.  This time it isn’t to bad.  At least I can still move/shower/function this time.  It’s been so bad before I can’t even get out of bed w/out help.  Can’t shower w/out help, usually lasts bout 4 or 5 days till I get mobil again, then another couple weeks until it disappears all together till the next time.  Sigh.  It really is inconvienent.

Been doing pretty good on the work-outs.  I’m on week 8 of the Max-OT program, I’m into my third diff. routine.  I like the way it’s going.  Maybe next time I’ll actually post the routines.  Maybe tomarrow.  Later

Loss of steam

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

Seems I’ve lost my forward momentum.  I’ve been keeping up w/ my workouts-five times a week.  But my diet has suffered some.  I havn’t been as strict.  Eating a little more junk than I should, I havn’t calculated the numbers for awhile, I’m kinda scared to look.  W/out even doing that, I can tell ya my protien and carbs have been pretty low and my fat has been pretty high.  Still, the SCALE has stayed the same and I havn’t noticed any diff. in the mirror-so if there is any change, it’s pretty subtle.  Can’t keep that up for ever though.

I partly blame it on work though.  This is the busy season, so it’s go-go-go.  Make as much as you can now, cause winter time SUCKS!  Big time.  Talken prob. bout a $1,000 cut per month.  Kinda hard to survive like that.  So anyway, trying to get as much done now as I can.  Working through lunches, working late, fast paced, hard driven, always moving, I’ll find myself out of breath most of the time from the exertion.  The level of mental consentration really wipes me out too in order to keep up w/ my physical pace.  So, ya, it’s busy time.  But, I havn’t been keeping up w/ this….at all, dosn’t really matter to much….in a sense, but in other ways it does.

For me, w/ anything I do, if I start to think that way and start letting the small things slide, pretty soon it’s everything.  I’ve been working out for a little over a year now, and don’t really won’t to stop.  This is the longest I have ever done that.  Usually it’s for a couple of months for a specific reason and this time goals have changed causing a life long commitment.

So, some how, it’s time to dig deep, time to step it up, time to re-assert and go for the goal I’m aiming at (210).  I was at 183 (exactly) for so long (like, 4 months) and finally started to move, now I’m at 190-193 (only took bout 2 weeks to get there once I started the move), but now I’m stagnet again.  No moving.  So, I had 27lbs to go, I have 14-17 left, target is 2 months.  IF I can get my rear in gear, that should be quite attainable.  But….IF!

Aye, I don’t know what to do, where to find it.  The drive.  The motivation.  The gumption.  I’m all chompin at the bit to work out during the day, but I always find by the time I get to my father-in-laws house to work out, it’s gone.  I’m tired, wiped out.  Dosn’t matter if it’s my morning workout or my after work workout.  It’s also not like I PLAN on cheating on my diet.  I don’t WANT to!  It just happens.  Moments of opportunity.  That, and you can only eat the same thing for so long before it starts loosing it’s appeal.  Then it becomes progressivly harder and harder to eat that, and easier and easier to eat something else.  At first it started out as, "just this once".  Sound familiar?  But the time the week was over, "just this once", was more like "just this 20 times".  Kinda funny how the blinders work.

Like I said, time to dig deap.

I also stopped by the gym that I was kinda eye-balling.  It’s a quite, mens only gym here thats been there for a few decades and is a 24hr.  It appealed to me for several reasons.  It’s not the big chain, modern, popular gym that seems to be the fad.  So it is quite (so I thought).  I went to see if there was any info on the out side and there was.  It’s $50/month w/ a $100 sign up fee and $10/year locker fee (which I don’t need) and a $5.00 member card fee (one time).  They have just about everything there (which is probably why it is so expensive).  Weight room, arobic room, basket ball court, outside track (don’t know where the heck they put that), "intertainment room" what ever the heck that is, pool table and some other some other stuff that I forget.  Sounds more like "The Elk Lodge" hangout for men rather than somewhere to go workout.  All I need is the work out room!  I havn’t seen the inside, so not really sure what it’s like, but don’t really need to w/ that kinda price.  Oh well, guess I’ll find a way to make the father-in-laws gym work for now.  Time to go, gotta go cut my hair (and the boy’s too).  Thinken bout a mohawk to go w/ my 4" gotee.  Wife isn’t to happy bout that. (course she’s not real happy bout the gotee either.  She keeps threating to cut it off when I sleep)

lol-all I can do-lol.

Later,

have a good night.

Week 4-new routine-arms (bit on paintball too)

Monday, June 4th, 2007

So, this is the beginning of week four of the Max-OT program I’m using.  It’s the start of a new routine.  Supposed to mix it up after three weeks, so I was able to tweak.  The routine I was using was a good beginner program to get acclimated to the style of this work-out.  But now it’s time to RIP IT UP!

So, here it is:

Biceps

   Alternating Dumbbell Curls

   25×12 25×10 30×6 (warm-up) 35×3 40×1 (acclimation) 45×6 45×6 (heavy weight)

   Cable Curls

   105×6 105×6 (heavy weight)

   Straight bar curls

   90×6 90×5 (heavy weight)

Triceps

   Lying Tricep Extensions

   75×6 75×6 (heavy weight)

   Dumbbell Kick-backs

   30×6 30×6 (heavy weight)

   Cable push-downs

   75×6 65×6 65×6 (heavy weight)

Forearms

   Dumbbell wirst curls

   55×8ea (heavy weight)

   barbll wrist curls

   80×8 80×6 (heavy weight)

In mixing up the routine, I work the muscle groups on diff. days than prev.  I also changed the order of excersises w/ the individual  muscle groups as well.  I also upped the number of sets on some of them, but never reduced.

I tweaked the workout so that the specific excersises that I "felt" the most, were first, to get the the most out of them, I also upped the number of sets on the desired excersises.  The result?  A kick ass work out!  It totally ripped me up!  I knew by the end of the routine that my arms were gonna be totally usless the rest of the day.  It’s very encouraging.

On another note, I just found out I’m gonna be playing a night game (paintball) on Friday around 10:00!  I love the night games!  There is a little more skill involved than the spray and pray mentality that seems to be so prevelant in today’s paintballers.  I prefer woodsball.  As do the 100 or so men and women that are part of my group.  "Speed ball" just dosn’t appeal to me as the Spray and Pray mentality is the only one practiced.  Even w/ woodsball, sometimes it seems it’s all about who’s daddy has the most money to give them so they can buy the most expensive/fastest gun.  Night time has a way of evening the playing field.  All it takes is one shot.  You have to find your target before you can engage.  In the day time, that is easy, night time….not so much.  At night there are a lot of veriables.  You don’t know were anyone is they don’t know where you are.  It dosn’t take much, a snapping twig, a coat sleeve brushing a bush, that’s all it takes to give away a position, that and movement.  Any movement.  So, if it takes that little to give away a position, let others know where you are, when you don’t know were they are, what do you think a gun going off is going to do?  Let EVERYONE know where you are.  You are an instant target and most likely will be taking fire on your location.  So it takes skill, stealthyness, PATIENCE, and nerves.  Yes nerves.  Nothing like sitting in one spot for a half hour, knowing the enemy is advancing on your position, but not knowing were or when.  Your mind starts playing tricks on you.  Noises, movement.  Is it for real?  Or is my brain making it up cause it WANTS to see/hear it.  And on and on.  So many variables, so much more than the spray and pray.  You know?  My three y/o likes to squeeze the trigger on my marker too.  He’ll just sit there and pull it over and over again (w/ my supervision of course).  Moral of the story?  My three y/o can spray and pray too.

Wow. Really went on a tanget there, guess I’ll let ya go.

Later YO!

Don’t have a clue

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

Didn’t have a clue what to name this one, so that was it.

I’ve been slacken lately.  Not w/ diet, not with lifting, but w/ enthusiasm and writing here.  I’ve been lifting like I should, been going at it hard, I’ve been adhereing to my diet for the most part, but the enthusiasm just isn’t there.  writing here is, I guess in a way, my "journal".  Kinda keeps things fresh in my mind, helps me focalize on what I need to work on, but I havn’t been doing that.  Just havn’t really cared I guess, that and I just have way to much to do lately.

I know I need to revamp my diet.  My protien is falling short since I’m using a new type powder, so, maybe this weekend I will re-work it, lay it out so I can visualize it.

Blah,

A little peived

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

I don’t know what the frick is the problem.  I’ve tried uploading some more pics, and the site says they were uploade succesfully, but they just arn’t there.  I tried like 10 times, literally, in diff. ways, shrinking the file size to make sure they are under the 500kb, but they just arn’t there.  I’ll probaly check tomarrow and there is gonna be like 20 of the same pic on there.  Don’t know what the frig the prob. is, but I’m tired and way past when I should be in bed, hopefully I can get up on time tomarrow to go workout.  I’m tired of messen w/ it tonight.

This will be week three on the Max-OT training schedule.  Maybe I’ll start to see some diff. this week.  I think I need to really work on my focus.  My mind is going a million miles a sec. so I think my work out’s suffer cause I’m not focusing in enough.  So, this week, that is what I’ll work on.  Focus, concentration, leaving everything else at the door when I walk into that room, just me, just the lifting.  Nothing else, not the jobs I’m working on at work, not social life, not home life, not work life, not family life.  Just me.  Just 40 min. of super concentrated lifting all five days.

Ya, it’s always easier to say than do it, but that’s the goal.  So,

Here we go, another week.  Later
