OK, So I’m not Superman …
So I have discovered something about being "40 something". I do cardio to blow off steam and it seems to set the stage for the day. I get it done first thing in the morning, then do weights at nite. I was doing cardio 5 times a week, swimming on the weekends and a 4 day split with additional arms/calves or something on a Sunday.
I went to Japan twice in July, which will mess with your head and your body, as well as went through a lot of long hours at work. I hit a wall on weds. I got a call that the son of a friend took his own life at 18, which just crushed me. My spirits dropped and I thought a workout would help. I just couldnt do it. I realized that with all going on, I just was simply overtraining. I took the rest of that workout and yesterday off, got some sleep, took today off work to play some bass … and basically just rest up. I am feeling better but i do feel like I could take a nap if I gave myself the opportunity.
So back at it this aft, but I think I will do shoulders and arms and save the big stuff for Monday. I guess I should revisit the routine and ensure I take a day off between the "big sets" (see quadzilla post) back and chest. Any advice on an "over 40" split routine?
I am trying to listen to my body, however this time it was yelling and I didn’t hear it.
