If you’re bored then you’re boring

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

It’s one of the most common themes that I revisit. A person who is looking to improve MUST look at each session as a starting point, not just another day to have to get up and grind it out.

I think a person doesn’t go physically stale but mentally weak and that’s def where I found myself the past 5 months.  I’ve had two good weeks now and I’ve really hammered myself this week.

It’s the best kind of aching I can imagine. Kick it!

just re-read last poast and the theme park idea was in relation to the break - NOT THE WEIGHTS!  Weights is the happiest place on earth :)

Had another killer session this morning. The gym I go to is a bit limited in equipment as it’s just a sports club not a proper GYM gym so no hack squat or plate pulldowns or squat rack or anything fancy like that.  We’ll just stick with the smith squats and leg presses. Why can’t I stand machines? I just don’t like the action, the thought, the dicky motion it gives you.  Maybe I’m just picking at nothing here but I did machines my first week in weight training and even though I knew nothing about this stuff at the time, I thought, Nope - these machines feel like they’re doing nothing for me.  Maybe that and the fact that you never see heavy men using the curl machine!  LOL

Anyway you know it’s a good legs session when you almost pass out on the last rep of your squats from lack of blood to your brain.

This lifestyle is completely rad and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to being a fat ass.  Thank you to everyone who keeps me sane and on track.

First day back on big weights after longer than expected break - gee it was nice but in a way that a theme park is nice.  It’s an OK place to visit but you wouldn’t want to live there!

So we’re back on week 1 day 1 of a 12 week program and I must admit that my break turned out to be longer than expected because the further away I got from the weights the harder it was to face their mocking tone when I couldn’t do what I used to be able to.

Did my first 3 pullups in almost 6 months and although it was nowhere near the 3 sets of 7 I was doing in April, it was reassuring to know that there’s still a little love there.  5 sets - 3, 3, 2, 2, 2.  No option but to keep pounding away I suppose.

I’ll start running again this week to incorporate into my weights as well (can’t have one without the other!).

Peace and success
