Gym rage

Monday, October 20th, 2008

OK - I’ve joined this gym right? It’s small and there’s only about 6 of us on any given morning.

The one dude is intense. Construction type, swear words are the bulk of his vocab but always says hey and fuuuuuuuk he pumps out some reps.  Exactly what I was hoping for when I joined. Someone to give me a bit of pace.  Drops the weights and isn’t the quietest person around (you can hear a pin drop with no blaring sound system etc) but dam he makes it intense.  Glad he’s there.

The other guy? Yeah….. doesn’t unstack weights, leaves the shower dripping when he’s done, shaves in the dry sauna and taps his razor on the seat, sprays water on the ELECTRIC sauna heater even though there’s big ass signs saying DANGER DO NOT SPRAY WATER.  Totally distracting to the energy but I think there’s lessons in both. I’m not perfect so I’ll take it for what it is and just do what I do.

I’m not there for him and vice versa.  It’d be nice if everyone was considerate but that’s not the way it works.

Knee is almost 85% so I was VERY happy with my effort this morning on the beach. Not even sign of slightest pain after 2 weeks rest / ice and physio.  Could it be I’m coming out of the injury woods?  I don’t want to jinx myself but geez it feels positive.

IF YOU’RE BORED THEN YOU’RE BORING

office - the language of fatness

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

well it’s back and instead of griping about it on bodyspace I’ve decided to live up to my goal of helping others and started a beach boot camp. I’m not certified in training but I do have my first aid and a few years of steady reading under my belt so I threw together a circuit program, distributed flyers in the building and had 9 show up for the first one this morning.  More than I expected but it’s the first day so we’ll see if my tutelage will prove worthy of a return trip by more than 75% of those!

Feels good.
