low intensity week

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Coming out of a really great time - still going to gym but not full speed due to a lower back strain. Ramping back up to previous the ab work level, gradually increasing cardio, settling on a new weight routine that I’ll implement on Thu so……  It’s positives all around!

Feel really really great within myself and know that I’ve got goals to meet and that action, not talk, is what will get me there.

this week

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

Yes yes! totally getting lumps on my bi’s and loving it. still have little layer of fat over my abs. You know, the omentum.  Still love feeling the strength coming back in my abs though. I can now do almost as many sit-ups as when i was in the Navy.

Skipped the bike this morning which really pisses me off. oh, you know, up with kids last night, etc and 4:15 came way too soon so hit snooze a few times and now, i feel like shit.

on the up side i pushed up 50 kgs 9 times on the flat bench Tues morning so was pretty happy about that.  Looking forward to summer so i can show off the hard work but more immediately i am really aching to make up for my slackness today so it’s up early for a kicker tomorrow morning!

arms

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

Holy crap. i read up on supersets and always sort of flirted with the idea but this morning, being the first day of my post-1 year mindset, i did the entire program of supersets of two for my arms.

By the end of the hour my both arms were shaking from fingers to shoulders and i literally was pushing down half of what i normally would.

It was perfect. I could amlost say it was what i’ve been waiting for but of course, in this game if you wait it won’t come. I had to do it myself and get it out there.

Still love doing 3 chin ups by myself. I’ll do 3 every day this week with an attempt at a 4th and that’s how i’ll keep doing it. I know people who could, at one time in their lives, do 20 or 30. That’ll be me baby. Guaranteed.

one year

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

one year down. but first an update on my chin ups. Extreme trepidation is how i approached my first chin up attempt on my own (couldn’t help but think about the first time i jumped from the high board at the pool LOL).

But i’ll be good and godammed if i didn’t knock out 3 without even really thinking about it. i guess my biggest fear was not getting any. i’ve been really wanting to do this and to not be able to after a year would’ve been too much.

but i did. And for the next 2 days would do 3 every time i walked past the station.

But back to my one year. 1 year since I picked up my first barbell and i feel better than ever but can’t help but wonder if i could’ve been stronger or fitter and the answer was most definitely.

So it’s back to the gym tomorrow and it’s balls to the wall until christmas (beach season here).

the only easy day was yesterday!
