Not so light

Monday, February 25th, 2008

I don’t feel so light today.  The DOMS are not my friend, okay I guess they are…  Curse you FireMedicMike and your advice!  I am just kidding, I know I have to embrace the uncomfortableness that I am feeling right now in order to get stronger.  I really did feel great after that workout!

I feel light!

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Thanks to some friendly guidance from FireMedicMike, I put in a pretty stout leg workout today.  I darn near threw up.  After I kicked it with the weights, I finished my workout up with nearly an hour on the stair climber.  Now, the stair climber itself is pretty tough cardio, but with Mike’s suggestion, I put 25 pounds of weight in my backpack.  I kept my backpack on, cleaned off the machine (I had soaked myself, I can only imagine what I left on the machine) then walked over to the weight area again to stretch out.  I took off my bag, and took the weight out and set it on the floor.  I stretched out, without standing up.  After I finished, I stood up to put the weight away.  I felt so light.  I had a little extra spring in my step.  It wore off after a short time, but it was a fun feeling to have.  Now I wonder if I will feel that same way all the time once I am down to the size I know I can get to…  Thanks again FireMedicMike, I am sure your advice will really pay off!

seriously

I have always toyed with this idea of wanting to be a fireman.  Yeah, so when I was a kid, it seemed there were only fireMEN.  So when I was in high school I became part of the fire exploreres, which was like playing boyscouts at the firestation.  The experiences I had there kind of kept the idea of being a fireperson somewhere in my mind.  So fast forward ten or more years, and I am seriously toying with the idea again.  But this time I am being a little more proactive.  I recieved my application in the mail last week.  They only hand out one hundred applications, and only hire ten from there.  In my city there are 130 fire people, and only eight of them are women.

FOr the time being I am training like a boy (not a whole lot different from before) but I have a crazy goal in mind.  I will keep everyone updated on my training, and how close I am getting.  I have until the middle of May before I test, then the real crazy stuff starts (if I woo them enough with my charm in the interview process)

I love the fact that I have multifaceted reasons for getting ripped.  I WILL test for the fire department, I WILL compete, I WILL be happy with my transformations.  You guys hold me to that.
