Spartan Woman

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

So you want to be a tough modern day Spartan woman (birthing Spartan men is optional)?  Try a 300 workout.  I feel broken.  I know this will make me stronger and fitter, but dang I feel so weak two days later.  The workout consisted of : 25 pull ups 25 push ups 50 deadlifts 50 box jumps 50 floor sweepers 50 clean and presses (25 each arm) 25 push ups 25 pull ups It seemed touch at the time, but I never realized how sore I just might be.  Good thing I see great things coming from this type of pain.  But I felt really ridiculous at work yesterday when I had to jump to reach something on the top shelf because my arm was so tight I couldn’t straighten it the whole way without using my other hand to stretch it. Well, I am off to do the same thing today, wish me luck!

Keep cutting

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

I saw a new cut today!  Man that is a good feeling.  Again, I am noticing that my pants are fitting a little looser, but to see a physical cut in my abs is awesome!  It is in my obliques.  This is a place I don’t ever recall seeing a cut, but I am so stoked!  I tried to take a picture, but I only have my camera phone.  And though this new line is barely detectable to the human eye (other than my own) I am still proud.  Now, to work harder so everyone can see this line…

Happy training and clean eating guys!

Me Cavegirl?

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

So I decided to start something new by recomendation of a trainer at my gym.  He calls it the Paleo diet.  I don’t buy in to these trendy little celebrity type diets with cute little nick names, but after what this trainer said, I thought I would do a little research.  I went to my local library and picked up a copy of "The Paleo Diet."  It is basically this life-style change where you eat what the cavemen did:  Lots of veggies and fruit and even more lean protein.  In the book, there is all this information about regarding the change in our health once the human race strayed away from its nomadic tendencies.  So the diet advocates not eating grains, legumes, processed sugar, processed meat and salt.  The last three things I listed are pretty much a no-brainer.  I realize it doesn’t seem to much different than many body building diets, other than the lack of legumes, and the addition of fruit.  I started this program just a couple of weeks ago.  My pants are already fitting better, and my digestive system has never felt so clean.  Take that for what you will, I just say I am pooping a lot.  I’ll keep you all up to date on how this new program works for me (in conjunction with a new training program as well).

I am now off to eat.  Bison burgers and brocolli, anyone?
