Natural Diamond Classic
Well I decided to do my first Figure Competition. I’m going to enter in the Natural Diamond Classic that takes place on November 15, 2008. I went to meet with Robert Green who is a Personal Trainer at Genesis Health Club in Wichita, KS. He’s a Pro Bodybuilder and really knows his stuff. I met with him for 1 1/2 hrs and he showed me some posing, explained a little about dieting and how much more cardio I need to do. He’s going to provide me with a diet, and he’ll split up our 1 hr session with 1/2 hr training and 1/2 hr posing.
I was really depressed when he weighed me because obviously my scale is wrong and it’s time to throw out the calipers because holy crap I’m borderline fat! I’m 7lbs heavier than I thought because my scale is a $8 piece of crap from Walmart and my bodyfat is 25%. What the hell man! I just worked my ass off for the past 3 months and I’m still fat! I can’t imagine what I was before I started Body For Life. Okay so that’s not even the bad part. My husband is being a total jackass about this whole thing and I don’t even want to do it anymore. I’ve been crying all night and I hate my life right now.
So it’s been three hours since I started writing this blog and I’ve talked to my husband again and he’s still not liking it but realizes he has no choice because I cannot be controlled and he knows this. I also talked to my sister and found out that my readings for the fat test Robert did are not accurate because you’re actually supposed to do it on an empty stomach and I had a huge breakfast this morning and I walked in there with an iced coffee from Starbucks. Not to mention I went out drinking last night and you’re not supposed to have alcohol for at least 24 hrs before the test so I’m going to call him and ask him if I can come in early and do it before work.
I’m starting my diet again tomorrow. I’m changing it a little by adding in alot more veggies, a little less protein and a little more fruit. I’m cutting out the milk in my protein and I’ll just have it with water and ice. I’m so used to bland food now it really won’t taste much different.
I’m so excited right now I probably won’t be able to sleep tonight. I can’t wait to get started. I bumped up my cardio over the weekend. I started doing the elliptical at 14 incline and 11 intensity for 30 min and had my heart rate up to 161 and then I did walking for 30 min on an 11% incline at 3.7 mph and had my heart rate up to 154-161 and raised my hands above my heart while walking. I changed my music on my ipod to a slower beat to make me go slower on the elliptical, I get bouncing to my music and can’t slow down. I look like an idiot! So as soon as I get my diet and training routine I’m going to be blogging my life away because I really want you all to know how very hard and at the same time fun, this is going to be.

Ok first off, congrats on all your progress and the fact that you are planning to compete. You will do great! How did your personal trainer test your body fat, using calipers? My personal trainer told me from the get go that some methods, like the calipers, are not always accurate. I looked at your pics and you definitely DO NOT look like you are at 25% bf. You have some really amazing arms!!! As for the husband not supporting you, don’t worry he will come around to the idea. If not, kick his butt, lol.
Best of luck to you!!!
