1 1/2 weeks of B for L left

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Well it’s down to the last few days of Body for Life.  I think I’ve made pretty good progress in the past 10 1/2 weeks.  The past week and a half have been really hard.  I’m so sick of food it’s not even funny.  I had to switch from plastic dishes because the smell of the plastic was in every food I put in it and everything tastes the same.  I’m really hating chicken now.  I have to look up so new recipes because grilled chicken is getting REALLY old!  I’ve been eating a little bit more carbs.  Not alot but I’ve had a few scones over the past few weeks from Starbucks. I eat them first thing in the morning so I have the whole day to burn it off.  Food is really getting me down.  I’m leaving for Canada next Saturday so I’ll get to indulge for a few days.  I’m going to try really hard not to go overboard because I worked so hard for this I don’t want to ruin it.  So I’m going to stay away from carbs as much as I can and still go to the gym while I’m there.  I’m not going to post any pictures until next Friday and I’ll do my measurements and body fat as well.  My training has been kind of uhhhh.  Not making much strength gains in chest and back and it’s really frustrating me.  I don’t think I’ve increased my weights at all in my chest workouts in the past 3 weeks.  Got one extra rep this week.  I think it has alot to do with not getting enough sleep.  We’ve had alot of storms here the past 3 weeks in Wichita.  Last Thursday and the Thursday before we had to go to the tornado shelter.  The weather radio wakes me up all night long and you have to have one here for fear of being blown away by a tornado.  This morning it went off at 4:00 a.m. 4 times until 5:30.  So needless to say I’m only going on 4 hours sleep.  I’m going to stop taking creatine for a few weeks.  Maybe a month to give my body a rest and just maintain what I’ve been lifting.  One thing I’m really disappointed with is my butt.  I thought it would be a little more drastic transformation since I do legs one day and glutes another day plus I do cardio at least 5x a week.  I am seeing a difference this week though.  I guess all those years of having a flabby ass it isn’t going to look like Msfitness’ butt in 12 weeks!!!  So that’s going to be my next 12 week transformation after this.  I’m going to experiment with different glute exercises.  Well, off to studying for ACE.  Man that’s a hard course.  I swear I’m going to be a doctor when I finish!

The long hard journey

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Well I have less than 3 weeks left until BFL is over.  I’ve made alot of gains but realized that it’s going to take me alot longer to accomplish what I see as my perfect body.  When I look at the before and after pictures of people who have made complete transformations in only 12 weeks I can honestly say now I don’t believe it.  I have trained my damn ass off for the past 9 weeks.  I’ve been on a strict diet.  My lifting has increased by over 40%.  I’ve been keeping a log every single day of what I eat and I’ve also been keeping a training log.  I live and breath training and dieting is what it boils down to.  I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been training for so long or if I’m just being too critical.  I have lost alot but the part that bothers me the most is my legs and ass.  I train legs twice a week, one leg day and one glute day.  I train really hard at the gym but still see no significant changes from the waist down.  I’m not going to get discouraged, this just makes me more determined.  This is a lifestyle and that’s the only way you can transform your body is by living and breathing it.  Learning new stuff every day.  Reading other peoples blogs, trying new exercises, taking yourself beyond your limit….

Body For Life - Week 9

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Well it’s down to crunch time.  Only 3 1/2 weeks left and I don’t feel that I’ve made any great gains in the past few weeks.  The kids are gone to Vegas for 3 months so no excuses now.  Only thing is it’s hotter than all hell here and our air is broken.  So when I come home from work and have to cook in this heat I really don’t have much energy left to go lift and do cardio.  We’re getting a new air/furnace system Friday (thank God!)  I was real lazy last week and only got in 3 sessions of cardio and rushed through my workouts.  The kids were off school all week and I was trying to get them ready to go away to their mothers on Saturday.  I did triceps and biceps yesterday.  I need to do some research because I’m not feeling much in my triceps.  I fried my biceps though with 21’s.  Tonight I did a quick glute workout, no cardio.  We have a tornado warning until 1:00 a.m. and soon as I saw the wild lightning I had to get out of there.  Hopefully I’ll get in a full workout tomorrow.  I really screwed up my diet over the weekend.  I ended up having Saturday as my cheat day and tried my best not to cheat too much on Sunday.  Yesterday and today I had a scone from Starbucks because I had to be in to work early for orientation and didn’t have time to eat a proper breakfast.  I started full time at Coleman yesterday.  I’ve been there for 1 year as a temp and finally got hired full time.  What a relief because there are no designer jobs in this town whatsoever!
