Cheat Day

Well my cheat day turned out to not really be a cheat day.  Sunday is usually my day off but I went to the mall and had a raisin pretzel and then came home and looked online at the calorie content…over 500 calories.  I fell sick, tired and fat.  So I hauled my ass off to the gym and did an hour of cardio and ended up burning 647 calories.  So to make myself feel like I really cheated I had one scoop of ice cream later on.  I really tried to cheat but just couldn’t bring myself to do it.

Yesterday I had a serious craving for my favorite snack food…sweedish fish…I was so stressed out so I decided to eat my protein bar in the morning instead of the afternoon so I could get that sweet taste in my mouth.  Well it didn’t work and after I finished eating lunch I still had the craving so I took my Venom early to curb my appetite and had a coffee.  I didn’t dare leave work for fear of running out and buying something.

Body for Life - start of week 5

I took my measurements yesterday and this is my total loss so far in 4 weeks:

Inches lost:  3.25"

Fat lost:  Approx. 3% (not 100% sure because I screwed up the measurements on the first week)

Pounds lost: 6lbs

So far things are going really well and I’m happy about that.  My strength is increasing every week with the help of Creatine.  I’m a little worried about the weight though because I’m so obsessed with my scale.  I know I’m losing because I’m losing inches but I haven’t dropped any weight in over a week.  So I’m adding in 2 cardio sessions, one Sat & Sun.   I think this has alot to do with the Creatine but I’m going to take it for one more week and then cut it out for a week and see what happens with my strength.

The sad thing about me losing this weight is now I’m the same size I was when I moved to the US almost 2 years ago.  I gained a little when I moved here and my clothes got really tight and a few things I just haven’t worn at all.  But now all my clothes are fitting.  I can’t believe how unhealthy people eat here.  And try to find good fish in Wichita, KS!  Pretty much impossible.  I went from being single and cooking for myself which consisted of mostly fish to being married, 3 kids and cooking 3 lbs of bacon a week and eating out at least 3 times a week!   I have slowly converted them to a healthier diet and introduced them to new foods and I ended up loosing 5 lbs but my clothes were still tight.  So now I don’t even eat what they eat.  I cook my own food and eat a totally different meal than them.  I cant’ wait till next month when they go to Vegas for 3 months and I can have only healthy food in the house.  Maybe William will finally lose those love handles.

Leg and shoulder workout

I did legs last night and I really thought I wouldn’t be able to walk today but I was fine.  I did six sets of squats and went as heavy as I could go without a belt because I left my at home in Canada.  I have to buy a new one.  My knee started to pinch too so I’ll have to get wraps for my knee as well.  I was only able to go up to 105lbs.  I used to do 135lbs but had to stop because I have back problems and really haven’t done squats since.  Went heavy on the dead lifts too and still managed to get in 45 min of cardio.

Today I did shoulders.  Forgot my training log at home so I had to remember what I did last week so I could increase my weight.  I did 105 lb shoulder presses on the Hammer Strength.  I could hear my left shoulder crunching as I did them….scary.   Yeah and I had a little run in with a prissy little bimbo who came in and invaded my space.  Hate chicks like that. She’s like this 20 year bimbo all done up, little black tights with pink writing across her ass…give me a break GF!!!!  So I’m doing cable side bends which pretty much take up that whole area and she comes over to do her little 30 lbs tricep presses.  So I do my set of shoulders because I was going back and forth doing abs and shoulders.  Come back over and move to the other cable machine next to it.  So then this old lady with a walker comes over…yeah…only at the fricken’ Y!!!!  and plants herself next to me so now I can’t do my side bends.  So the little tart goes off to do her little 10 lb dumbell lunges so I go back where I started to finish doing my side bends.  At this point I’m trying to show my husband how to do these because he’s limited to what he can do for abs because he can’t bend his knee.  So missy comes over gives me a dirty look and snatches up her stuff and goes over to the other cable machine.  So I can’t help myself because I have a really big mouth and say "excuse us!  we were here first after all".  I can’t stand chicks that come in the gym all done up like a damn barbie doll afraid to break out in a sweat.  I really don’t care what she thought of me for saying that because all the girls in the gym hate me anyhow.

Chest workout

I’m steadily increasing my weight every week by at least 5 lbs.  I’m not really sure if I’m supposed to be increasing this quickly or not but I’m getting a little impatient.  I was alot stronger when I was 30 when I started lifting with Sam.  He pushed me to the max but I have no one to push me but myself and his voice in my head.  He seriously gets me through every workout.

Well I actually benched the most I’ve every benched.  Might not sound like alot but it is for me.  I benched 100 lbs, 3 reps.  Had to find a spotter though.  I just started working out steady at the Y so I don’t know anyone.  So everyday when I go in I scan the joint to see who I’m going to ask to spot me.  Has to be someone who knows what they’re doing and that really narrows it down.  Don’t want some young dude, don’t want someone who’s wife is there (in case she wants to try and kick my ass) so I usually end up finding some old guy or some real ugly guy…lol.  There really aren’t that many bodybuilders in Wichita and they certainly don’t work out at the Y so finding someone with experience to help me out is out of the question.

I think I’m finally over my weight thing.  I weigh myself every morning and at first I was losing weight like crazy.  So I lost 7 lbs in 3 weeks and then started taking Creatine last Friday and gained 3 lbs and lost it again a few days later but haven’t lost anything since last week.  I’m not going to worry about it because I know I’m gaining muscle.  There’s no doubt about that.  I haven’t changed my diet or my workout so it’s not something I’m doing wrong.  I was going to stop taking the Creatine this weekend to see if I lost anything but now I’m kind of addicted to the fact that I can lift heavier every week plus I find that I’m not as sore after my workouts since I’ve been taking it.  So I’m going to try it for another week and if I haven’t lost any inches I’m going to have to add more cardio, which I’m doing this week anyhow.  I don’t usually do cardio on the weekends but I’m going to add in two more sessions to see if it makes a difference.

So tonight I’m off to do legs and 45 min of cardio.  I only got 5 hrs sleeps last night so I’m not feeling 100% and I really wanted to try some heavier squats.  But we’ll see how it goes.

One other thing.  My diet is up to around 1400 calories a day now since I’ve increased my protein intake.  My ratio is around 53/28/19 (P/C/F)

Into Week 4 BforL

Well I haven’t lost anything since I started taking creatine last Friday.  I think that’s the reason but damn, I’m a whole lot stronger at the gym so who cares.  I’ll continue taking it until Saturday and then I’m going to stop for a week and see what happens.  I’ve increased my protein to around 170 grams a day, that’s a 50 gram increase from last week and try to work my way up to 190.  I’m going to start take fish oil this week also.

Starting Week 4 BforL

I’m starting week 4 tomorrow and feeling really good.  My diet is going extremely well and not cheating at all.  I lost another pound today (for a total of 7 in 3 weeks) but I’m not logging it until I’m the same for at least 2 days.  I added CLA and Creatine yesterday.  Yesterday I had the best leg workout I’ve had in probably 8 years…lol.  But I’m paying for it.  I strained a muscle in my glute and it’s killing me.  I woke up really stiff this morning.  But I dragged my ass up, took my supplements and off to the gym again to do shoulders.  This time I took my training log with me so I made sure I increased my weight on at least one exercise.  I did 100 lbs on the Hammer Strength shoulder press for the first time in my life!  Must be the creatine because I was seriously "animal" in the gym today!  I also increased side lateral raises to an extra set with 20 lbs.  Tomorrow is my cheat day but I’m going to try not to cheat with junk food.

Day 17

I’m on day 17 of Body For Life and my diet and training are going better than expected.  I’ve been training hard and lifting heavier every week for 5-6 days/week.  At least 4-5 days doing 45 min. cardio.  I seriously feel like I’ve been hit by a Mac truck but I’m recovering more quickly everyday.
My diet is around 1100-1200 calories/day.  My original goal was 1500 but after the 1st week it just went down on it’s own as I didn’t feel I needed to eat that much food once I started eating healthy whole foods.  The average ratio is around 45/35/20 (P/C/F) and my original goal was 30/50/20.  I found that my carbs went down drastically because I don’t eat any bread and most of my carbs come from vegis and beans, once in a while a whole wheat low carb tortilla.  I’m eating every 2 1/2 - 3 hrs and the only thing I have after 6:00 is my protein banana shake after my workout.

I have been losing steadily at 2 lbs per week and I expect that I’ll only lose another 2 lbs in another week and then only 1 lb/week after that.  My body seems to be responding extremely well to this diet.  So far I’ve lost 6 lbs in less than 3 weeks.  I’ve never done this well on a diet before and I think it’s because I cut carbs…they just make you more hungry.

Yeah so I took some shots of my ass today to see if there’s been any progress since I took pictures 16 days ago and I seriously can’t believe it!  It looks like I had a partial ass lift!  I didn’t think it was possible.  So I must be doing something right.

Body For Life

I’m starting week 3 and doing really good.  My diet is clean (no cheating except today…my cheat day).  I lost 3 lbs and a total of 1.75" in two weeks.  Last week I increased my weight on at least one exercise of each body part.  I lifted the most I’ve ever lifted on the Hammerstrength shoulder press.
