I’m going to try to keep this blog updated, more for my own personal benefit (so that i can see where i am at, and where i’ve been) than anything else. I started this fitness thing in January (2008) weighing 215 with low self esteem and just general unhappiness in my life. I hit a low and decided to make a change for the better, it started as just "lose weight" and "get back in shape", baby steps, as i called them, which really helped to start what i used to think was a terribly painful, and boring task. What i did not expect was what happened over the few weeks and months after i started. After you get over the work aspect of going to the gym, and make it part of your daily/weekly life, it can actually become something that you look forward to doing. Over the past 9 or so months i have gone from 215 and over 25% bodyfat and very little muscle and strength to 170, 10% bodyfat, and 148Lbs of Muscle. I am proud of these stats everyday, but my physical self is not the only thing that has changed. I am a much more confident person because of my fitness, my self esteem is sky high, and i know that i can accomplish way more than i thought i could just 9 months ago. I have also changed in my interests, The Gym, which was once a place that i feared, has now become my obsession and my sanctuary, a place where i don’t feel the stress of my outside life. When i started this whole thing i said to myself "if i could get to 180, i’d be extreamely happy and satisfied", and when i did get to 180 i was extreamely happy, but i wasnt satisfied, and i will never be satisfied! There is always more i can lift, more i can run, more i can change for the better, that is why i love the gym, it is a place where i can always strive to be better, and that is what i plan on doing.

In the short term, i want more muscle mass, spending almost a year dieting for weight and fat loss is hard but rewarding, now i want to be rewarded by putting weight back on, but this time in the form of muscle, and at the same time keeping my body fat low, i’d like to be 175 by christmas, and 180 by spring 09, i feel these are lofty but obtainable goals, and i know that i am going to have to work my ass off to get there!
