Holy *ing leg day

January 14, 2008

Well as of the start of Jan the plan is to train legs twice a week for at least eight weeks.  With one day being quad focus the other being ham focus with calves each day.  First week went by ok.  But today!! today was quad focus and did they take a beating.

First up was warmup, stretch and bike  very important on a leg day hahaha

First exercise was hack squat. Start of with 2 plates a side (45pds each) hit 11 reps, then 4p for 10, up to 5p for 9 and then finish with 5 plates for 10

Second up was straight leg press  3plates for 12 reps, 5p for 12reps, 7plates for 8 reps then 8 plates for 7 reps (not a bad finish 720 pounds plus the sled)

Third, everyone’s fav, the squat rack!!!!   Doing them on the smith to save my back a little.  Squat 185 pds for 10 reps, then 225 for 9, up to 250 for reps of 8 and final set of 8.

Then on too Leg Extensions  2plates for 11 reps, 3p for 11, 4p for 8 and finish 4p for 7.

Then after a breather some seated calf raises in a chair like apparatus and then on a seated angle machine supersetted with donkey raises.

So needless to say i’ll be sore tomorrow I think but it will all be worth it!!!

Happy Holidays

December 29, 2007

Well it’s the holiday season.  Coming into the holidays I ended off of 8 weeks of twice a week back training it went really well in my mind.   Got up to 355 pd deadlift.  Right now during the holidays taking a little time off but still going to the gym and doing up some cardio, burn off that holiday eating haha.   Starting back strong Jan 2 with twice a week leg training for probably 8 weeks, maybe even 12 so watch my squat mark go up!!

Getting Going

November 19, 2007

Ok, ok, been a long time since i’ve posted I know.  What’s new, well finally FINALLY got my 07 contest photos, check them out in my progress pics.  Also got a new workout partner at the gym and we have two solid weeks of training together in, it’s going good.  Was up to 110 pds for dumbbell bench press the other day and 315 pd deadlifts on the weekend.  Going to keep it rocking three years of this and I should be looking really good.

Slow Start

October 7, 2007

Well since my October 1st "start date" to get back into the gym it’s been a little hit and miss to actually get that accomplished.  With my day to day job starting to move into the busy season and lots of overtime is needed to be worked it’s a little bit harder then I wanted to get in the workouts i’m looking for.  But i’m taking this holiday weekend (thanksgiving-Canada) to rest up a bit and refocus so I can get back on track and get at the training.

I’ve also starting looking at EFX products to help me train for the next couple years, if anyone has had good experiences or bad experiences with EFX products please let me know.  You can see the site for more info at http://www.aaefx.com

 Cheers

About to begin

September 11, 2007

Sat down today and penciled out what I think will be the first month to two months of my return to the gym come October 1.  I plan on going back tomorrow (wed) to start working out some of the kinks from a two week post contest layout.  Excited to get back it at.  Stay Tuned

Cheers

The Calm before the storm

September 6, 2007

The date is September 6th 2007.  It is coming to the end of a straight two weeks off from the gym following my last contest on the 25th of August.  Over the next two weeks I plan to slowly get back into working out, mainly full body workouts a couple days a week as I prepare for the onslaught that begins Monday October 1.

From the 1st of Oct 2007 until August of 2010 is my timeline to gain size, gain muscle, reshape and reform my body without the use of any steriods or growth hormones.  I plan to blog as much as possible and update with progress pictures so you can watch and read along if you please.

It’s been a long 3 years to get to where I am now at 185pds (offseason) from a 150pd regular joe who hit the gym every now and then for fun.  My goal is to be at least 210-220 pounds in 2010 before I begin a 16-28 week diet for the 2010 contest.  It’s going to be a lot of work I know, but I firmly believe the payoff will be totally worth it.

Train Hard, Train Safe, Train Natural

 Cheers,
     Reg
