Leg Day

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

I worked my legs today and decided to scrap my workout and shock the system.  I warmed up thoroughly on my stationary bike and then headed for the rack.  I love squatting.  I almost always throw up later, but I love the feeling of hoisting that much weight from a vulnerable position.  Anyway, to schock my system today, I decided to do "breathign squats".  i read about these ni an article by Bob Kennedy.  You basically choose a weight you can do for 6-8 reps, and then without re racking the weight, continue until you finish 20 reps.  That would be one set.  Its a little more stressed than a regular rest pause type of training.  I did five working sets and couldnt walk to my car for about 20 minutes.  I will do some hamstring work tonight instead of cardio as I am sure my oxygen consumption was definitely up this morning.

Peanut Butter

Monday, May 7th, 2007

Just some random thoughts on one of my staple foods.  I absolutely love the use of peanut butter.  I only buy the Natural peanut butter as I dont want anything but nuts, and a little salt.  I usually have a tablespoon as soon as I get home from work to satisfy my snack cravings and keep me feeling full until dinner.  I also love to make what I call Thai Turkey burgers.  They taste great, are good for you, but look disgusting.  Oh well, such is the price of building a great physique.  I start with a pound of extra lean ground turkey, about 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, a tablespoon of Honey, some red chili flakes, and some finely chopped broccoli.  i mix it all in a bowl, adding a little low sodium soy sauce if necessary and then form patties.  9 minutes in my george foreman grill and I am good to go.
