projected training for week 1

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

Well I know I promised progress photos for this weekend but in order to display them I must have photos with 2 different dates. Sooooo that gives me one more week shed some light on a "shitty" situation lol. I’ll start working out once again tomorrow. The plan is to start training with TMG at RunTex again. I’ve been saying this for quite some time. I have to get back in shape for reasons I can’t discuss at this moment. It’ll be a crazy week for me. My training should look something like this:

Mon: Temp training with RunTex (Running, with some light jogging w/calisthenics)

Tuesday: Easy 1 hour bike ride (with lots of stretching, abs, pilates if I have time)

Wednesday: RunTex training (probably lots of 250 meter hill sprints, light jogging w/calisthenics)

Thursday: Easy 1 hour bike ride (stretching, abs)

Friday: RunTex (probably AHS track for circuit training or a mix of tempo training and all out sprints, light jogging w/calisthenics)

Saturday: Will be a toss up. It depends on how I’m feeling. 2-3 hour bike ride or yoga (we’ll have to see what my wheels are feeling like)

This week I’m being careful not to over train and making sure I get all 6 meals in everyday. I’ll post an example of what I’m eating later on.

Redemption

I’m not sure how I want to start this blog. I guess I could start with my current mental state. Okay let’s get straight to the point….I’m having an extremely hard time getting motivated to train. I think part of this has to do with the fact that I’m not satisfied with my current profession. If you haven’t checked my profile….let me fill ya in. I’m a full-time courier for Federal Express. Federal Express a company that treats it’s employees(couriers and handlers) like shit. For instance Fed-Ex is constantly pushing us couriers to make more stops. pick up more packages while condensing our work hours at the same time. I’m all for reducing work hours….anytime you’re working a physical job…working less hours is a well deserved break. But here’s the catch……Federal express guarantees it’s full-time employees 35 hrs of "Guarantee pay", part-timers get 20 hrs "Guarantee pay". There are many couriers who are efficient and do their jobs well and average around 40-45 hrs a week. Well Federal Express will raise their expectations for couriers based on computer software….lol computer software that has the ability to predict stops and locations. But wait it gets worse…..so each week we are presented with a stat sheet summing up all activity for the week and what we did wrong lol. So basically you have engineers who are located in Memphis, TN at our main HUB who we’ve never met, some who have never stepped foot in our current locations telling us how to run our routes. Does this sound fair? Check out this…at one point I was a part-time employee and I’d work 35 + hrs a week. But as soon as I went on vacation….I’d have to deal with getting paid 20 hrs of vacation pay for that week….lol good ole Fed-Ex. So Fed-Ex is now pushing employees to work faster and harder to decrease work hours but at the same time they’ll continue to assign more stops and more to locations to routes. Remember I’m not complaining about this…..I’m just blogging to convey my state of mind. Physically I haven’t been able to train at 100 % in about 6 years or so. Over the years I’ve been able to put together a couple of good weeks of productive training but I usually end up getting burned out and will end up suffering from dead leg or I guess overtraining. My goal remains the same….kick ass on the road bike….run as fast and efficient as possible….learn to swim like a pro….did I mention I’m in the delayed entry program for the Air Force ;)         As much as I try to deny it….Some things just happen for a reason. Expect to see some big changes in the near future. I’m really gonna post new progress (lol or regress) pictures this weekend.

Race results from The Silicon Labs Marathon Relay: As a team we finished 88 out of 356 teams. I ran the last leg of the relay which was a slow 5k for me. My time was….well put it this way…I ran 8 min and 22 second miles….yeah I’m in shitty shape considering in shape I run 6 min miles in 5k’s…………..

Welcome!
