chest day / 15 reps

For what ever reason, I was unable to do my usual volume of training. I feel OK, but just couldn’t do all the reps.

Grappling and then Leg Day, then boxing

I love boxing, but yesterday I had an opportunity took a shot at some grappling training. It was along the lines of BJJ. For a "noob" I did pretty well, except for the last session I must have gotten a little carless. I was completely humiliated and had to submit; completely immobilized and under real pressure. My lower body was shot and the ego took a real beating. The hold put so much pressure on my legs that I couldn’t get off the mat for a minute.
So today I decided I might as well really pile on the soreness and kill the legs. It was drop sets all the way around and I can feel the pain that will come up for tomorrow.  On one drop set of squats, I must have done 40 reps. I’m dieing, in a good way.

Later today, I’ll hit the bags for a while. Going to work on "defense" blocks, parries and counter punching off the block and parry.

Something new: Weighted Pullups

I’ve managed to hit 10 pullups so I’ve decided to try some higher intensity pullups.
In my last Lats and Bicep Session, I held  a 20# dumbbell between my legs and managed to get 6 reps for a couple of sets.
I think I’ll be mixing volume and intensity training on this exercise.

Leg day today and it was good.
It was a high intensity day and the target rep range was 3s and 2s, however I managed to do 5s and 4s!
I think I could have done a 6 rep set. Next time.

Chest Triceps and boxing

A good day today.
I was able to push out 6 reps with 105# dumb bells today and it felt good.
I’d like to hit 4-5 reps with 115# which should translate to an SRM of 125-130.

I also hit the bags today. I’m working the 6 punch combinations. Its hard to coordinate.

Memorial Day training with Mrs G.

Yesterday, our regular gym was closed, so Mrs G and I went to our "stand by" gym. A good gym, just not our favorite.
So it ended up that we were both doing legs and Mrs G need some help calibrating to a different leg press apparatus. Normally we don’t train together, but it ended up that we did yesterday and it was good.

My quads are a bit sore today as are my calfs and glutes. Too bad the hams are not :(
Mrs G is hurting (in a good way) big time. Quads, hams, glutes, calfs, they all are sore.
What is it about training with a hottie that makes a man push harder? (if you didn’t guess, thats a rhetorical question ;)
Although Mrs G does not push the same poundages as I do, (Thank goodness) She still pushes around some respectable weights and I have it in my head that there is a ratio, which I will not divulge, between Mrs G’s poundages and my own.

When she hits it hard, I feel compelled to do so as well.

Well, anyway, it paid off. It was a good training day.

Today was a back and bicep day - good enough.

A little latter, I’m going to do some boxing training with the heavy bag/speed bag/ double ended bag.

Chest Triceps

Today was a Chest/Triceps/Delts day
It went well. Did a 5×105 db press set today. I couldn’t do another however. That took it all

Interestingly, my hams were still hurting yesterday. The volume training last week must have really had some effect.

Later today I’ll hit the bags for about 40 minutes. I feel motivated.
Last week I missed my Friday Heavy/Speed/Double ended bag session. But I did have time to train Mrs G, including her boxing training. She did very well and that always helps me push it a little harder.  :)

Light day

Was training Mrs G today. She did pretty well.
I hit the traps and biceps between her sets.

Wednesday was a chest/tricep day and yesterday was a leg day.
Both were "volume" days and today the hams still hurt a bit and the chest does too.
Yesterday I hit the heavybag/speedbag/double ended bag for about 40 minutes. It was good.

I think it was a good week.

High intensity Leg Day

Today I felt pretty good.
I haven’t done a high intensity day for legs for quite a while, so I took a shot at it today and it felt good.
Hit the legs hard with a couple of 4 rep sets on a hack squat machine (13 45# plates and one 25# plate) and then did two kinds of sissy squats to shock the quads. Needless to say, I feel it now.

Similarly, I hit the calfs and hams with some low rep heavy sets. I’ll hit some volume later this week.

Mrs G was doing a higher intensity leg day today too. I’m convinced that watching her push some heavy weight helped me focus too :) Finally, I hit the heavy bag/speed bag and double ended bag for about 45 minutes. Felt great!
