Thanksgiving.

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

I am thankful for all of you and your support.  I am thankful for friends and encouragement as I would not be where I am today without a push up the hill now and again.  Lift hard, eat well and help those who cannot (not will not) help themselves. Give to the have nots that we all may have.  Pass on what you have learned and this will truly give people hope and encouragement.  Don’t give to give, give to elevate someone to the next level whether it is love or knowledge of lifting.  Love the unloveable, because they think that they are unlovable.  We can change that.  Lets compete together to make each of us better as a whole and not seperate each other out.

Now,  EAT as much junk and turkey tomorrow for Friday…WE shop…  F-That!  I’m going to the gym!

Again?

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

What motivates me to workout?  Tell me we are running late in the OR again and I start chomping at the bit. Since I lift after work this chaffs me to no end.  I once saw a Percheron in the same straits as they put him in a stall while they tied a mare in heat about 50 yards away.  When they threw that gate open He covered it in seconds, the mount was better than ANY impact tackle in College or the NFL that I have seen this year.  Not to mention the stud never saw me.  I send dust and rocks flying as I dove for cover 20 yards away.  You would have think an RPG had been shot at me.  I would have taken the RPG instead of the Percheron’s weight and hoofs anyday.  WOW. Tie one of my scantilly clad buff female friends here(you know who you are) up across the way and it would be pretty much the same reaction. Now nothing inappropriate here but to see and talk to them up close and personal would be awesome.  I love my wife but she is NOT a bodybuilder.  So I get motivation from these girls as maybe, I will encourage my wife to pick up the cause!

I did tell my wife though, I am working out regardless how late I get out of here.  MUST LIFT.  Thanksgiving the gyms are not open!  How rude is that!

Thanks for the Cheesecake but….

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Yes, my standard rant.  I like the cheesecake pictures but I really prefer beef.  Women who are not only curved but who have a good muscular structure supporting the fluff.  DeborahAnn is a good example of fluff and buff.  Nice lines and strong definition.  Silicone or saline IS a nice adjunct for some women and the harder cored women do lose alot off their chest.  I do not blame them 1 iota and in fact support their decisions for implants.  It is not my place to say what they should/shouldn’t do for health reasons.  Just know this, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.  The only way I don’t like a woman’s chest is if she has no torso at all!  Speaking of which mine is still fighting that b cup range. LOL  but benching consistently and eating right will take care of that over time.

Can anyone answer me this curiosity?  Why do women show off their butts?  Is it a genetic desire to be mounted or some other primordial code that says, "Look at my strong butt.  I will bear many good children or is it simply "I am available?"  I know why men show "guns."  Genetically it means you are strong, can take care of yourself and others that need protection. Showing the chest shows foundation.  Firm strength, not easily toppled.  Anyway, y’all give me your thoughts on the matter!

Stimulus Package

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

OK.  Today’s message is Ode to Eurasiansurgeon. OMG.  If I dare to compare my progress(or lack thereof) to her’s I would cry.  Maybe a visual is helpful…I would look like one of those dead opposums in the road come about 1:30 PM after some good smearing, ripping apart, etc.  You get the picture.  I know why she does not accept friends.  She would have too many of us "old men" as friends.  Although being a year younger I am given strength by this fact.  Her workouts must be animal, like DeborahAnn’s.  Very cool.  Sure gene’s help(or is it jeans) but wow.  What a nice genetic cocktail.  I cannot wait to get to the gym and do some leg work.  What…What did I say.  I hate leg day but not so much today.  We all need hereos or people we look up to (or lust after) to sometimes motivate us to new heights (no pun intended although considered.)  I am thankful this Thanksgiving season to all the beautiful women who continually motivate me!

The right diet

Monday, November 10th, 2008

With just a little planning diet can take you to the next level when bulking.  After my hiatus from lifting I changed my diet through planning and prep with the help of Chef Trixter747.  The stats are already back to pre-break size and dimension.  I actually hit 222 but am not concerned as my wife scrutinizes my weight for me. Now I know some of this is fat but as I go on this tear I will see what happens.  I am actually aiming at 235 for max weight and in the spring will peel off what is not muscle.  I am hoping this will be somewhere around 220.  My football coach in highschool would have loved this but then I had no idea what I could become.  So with lots of lean meats, complex carbs, Cornstarch/Waxy Maize and heavy lifting I should reach those goals quickly. Yesterday was back and traps today rest and tomorrow the dreaded but appreciated leg day.  Lifting is a paradox.  As it gets easier mentally it gets harder physically.

We Did it! We exercised Democracy!

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Thanks to all who voted.  We did something that many others cannot do.  We exercised a Right!  Whether we voted for Obama, McCain, Nader, Barr, etc…that point is almost irrelevant.  This government is of, by and for the people.  WE are that people. If we voted for Obama it is time for us to enact the change voted on, if we voted for McCain we thank them for challenging us, this is our Country.  We may not like the government but it is up to us to save our country whether we are a Republican, Democrat or something else.  It is not the time to sit back and either revel in victory or withdraw into bitterness.  Like our lifting.  This is our body.  Get off the damn couch and do something about the way we look and feel if we don’t like it.  In Chinese philosophy our body is a microcosm of the univiverse’s macrocosm.  What that means is loving, honoring, respecting our body will translate to our friends, family, strangers, country, etc. We lost last night and we won last night.  We all did our part.  Now it is time to roll up our sleeves and help our country get out of debt, stop playing world police officer, mend fences with our friends and reach out to our enemies. time to help those who have not by giving them something other than money-education and opportunities.  Change is not easy and is often painful like changing lifting routines but we must change to grow.  As bodybuilders we know better than most from a visceral level that change is pain or at least soreness but we know too THAT means growth.

I did not vote for Obama last night but I am not willing to stand on the sidelines and not help my fellow country men and bodybuilders struggle on their own.  This is my country too dammit and if I can make a change for the positive then count me in. I am off to the gym…..

VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Turnout is MASSIVE!  This is big.  I am less concerned with who you vote for but show you are an American Citizen and get out and VOTE!  Like my bodybuilding I am taking responsibility for my vote.  If things go in the tank I will say yes, I made a mistake.  If things go well I will say this is good for America and the world.  Muscles are like Freedoms-we don’t use them-we lose them!

Today is gun training.  Time to take up and bear the arms but I have to shift a little bit.  With heavy bench coming tomorrow I need to focus on the biceps and lats otherwise benching will be poor tomorrow.  So0, Yet revamping of the exercise roster.  But, should be a good day for lifting and then exhausted I will watch "The best political team…"  CNN.  I freakin’ LOVE Campbell Brown!

Pre-Vote Rant

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Will this be the eve of the biggest day in history?  Probably not so focus on the , "Think globally, act locally" model.  What does that translate to?  Get to the frickin’ gym and lift.  If McCain wins we will need to be fit and trim to fight off those who have not.  If Obama wins we may have to fight off the Tax collectors!  But all joking aside do your part in voting and in the gym.  Realistically the exercise and commitment we put into the gym will have far more reaching immeinent impact than 1 vote. The 1 vote we make for ourself will change many lives.  Who is not motivated by the hard positive work of someone else?  Examples are prime movers in our life.  Joel Osteen in his book "Become a better you" really pushes the idea that we have to be happy with us, and don’t let people take our joy.  Now that may sound self centered but it is not.  It is the same as the wounded healer.  Anyone who know’s that scenario knows well that someone who is still "hurting" will have impaired vision and reasoning.  The point, take care of you.  When we are cared for by ourselves THEN we can reach out to others whether it is in the gym or a soup kitchen.

Lift well but lift.  Vote well but vote.  It isn’t in the making the right  or wrong choice but in exercising the freedom we have to make a choice. That is really important.  We may all disagree on supplements, techniques, candidates, policies, etc.. but that is the key.  We do it anyway and we become better people and examples by doing what we do…lifting/bodybuilding…AND voting.  Exercise like voting is precsious.  If we don’t do them we will lose our opportunity to exercise them.
