Gains
Monday, July 7th, 2008If I am not growing in size, strength or both I am wasting my time at the gym. Champions do not complain about "things" but make situations evolve that can facillitate their goals. Now that statement is so easy to write. There are those that are blessed with a champion mentality. Others of us have to build it brick by brick sometimes pebble by pebble. Adversity helps one to excel in areas as well. But lifting becomes a therapeutic supplement instead of a path of development. It becomes an escape or coping mechanism with equally good physical results but not neceassarily the mental formation we want. Most of the times I can "lift pure" and the results are good. But there are days when lifting weights sublimates my desire, from anger, to wring someone’s neck. And yes, there are sometimes you really do need to stop and look back to see where you have been. The progress from the beginning of lifting until now. Then with faith move forward with great expectations for yourself and don’t worry about others. So today, after forgetting my cross trainers, I will do what must be done even if I have to wear my crocs to do so. If you make it to the gym you have stepped farther than most ever will. Give yourself a pat on the back, uh…if you can. I know those muscles growing really prevent alot of that.
