After 18 months-What I have learned.

I see small changes-others see big changes. It is a lot harder to gain weight than I imagined-even eating like a pig.  NO-Explode, regular creatine just don’t work for me.  Protein powders DO make a difference.  When I lift my aches and pains go away.  I feel alot happier when I lift.  I feel physically and mentally worse when I do not lift.  I have had to buy new shirts. :)   Only cardio takes the stomach away.  Heavy lifting around the house is not heavy anymore.  I sleep better.  I eat better when I lift.  I like the way I look now.  I could have a stroke and die tomorrow but what I have done up to this point I am happy with.  I am not where I want to be yet.  Plateaus don’t seem to happen as much when using the 5×5 program.  Lifting is like meditating-it’s all about focus-going up, holding and coming down.  There are some really poor techniques out there.  Women are not interested in socializing while at the gym.  Men are not interested in socializing at the gym.  Bodybuilders are building a disciplined mind as well as their bodies. This is why good bodybuilders don’t socialize while lifting.  Bodybuilders give a nod of recognition to each other or a handshake and move along to the next set.  Bodybuilding is a path not a means to an end.  Competitions are check points of progress-not pinnacles.  We need to support one another at the gym nad at work and home.  People are dying to connect to one another and get people’s attention.  Live when you workout, live when you get home and live at work.  Live life all the time.
