Goals

What are goals and how do you acheive them?  Whose goals are they, yours or someone elses?  If I thought I could have the growth potential of a 25 yo male and I was a 40 yo female I would be giving myself a very difficult goal.  Not unattainable but it would require perfection in mind, body and spirit to acheive it.  Growth is what you push for.  As they say each journey starts with the first step.  I fyou focus on making that first step the best possible after awhile you will have put together an unbroken chain of excellence.  Giving your all in technique, rep, set, seesion you will accel.  Sometimes goals limit us and allow us to slack off if the goals are not stringent enough and lead to disappointment if they are too high.  My goal is the here and now, to make this instance heaven, here right now.  Is there really anyother time?

Were you ready?

Wham, knocked flat on your back, stars circling your head and you wonder,  "What the hell was that?"  Most likely it was when we were not prepared.  We forgot to stretch, we forgot to warm up etc. and then we crawl up, clinging to the counter.  Then our goddess-muse comes to us.  We are saved and refreshed and given sense to take care of yourself and motivate you to do right.

Readiness to lift, live life, drive, etc are paramount to success otherwie we will be seeing the underside of our bench instead of the ceiling…

Self Image

It is very difficult to be the judge of one’s progress as we have a fixed idea of who we are or what we look like for that matter.  According to recent reports 85% of us are not as smart as we think we are!  So…best to always be humble.  A trainer recently told me I was "huge"  when talking to a friend of mine.  I have not let it go to my head as I think yes, I am huge.  I assumed he meant my gut.  Well, as long as I am bulking I will not worry too much about that.  Come late spring early summer that will be dealt with.  My cardio I enjoy very much.  They are called hikes, through the woods over uneven terrain with a 30 lbs backpack.  But beyond all this I find it important to have friends here on the forum that can look at my pictures and give constructive feedback.  It is always best to be open, not necessarily believing everything that is told to you but being open enough to consider it. The mind is like a parachute, it only works if it’s open…"

To shave or not to shave?

What is it like to be a Mexican Hairless Chihuahua?  Do you shave your legs and chest.  Jest the chest?  What about the back?  What about nair or razors?  What about using a hair cut razor to just shorten everything?   Tanning after that?  Before or after shaving?  How about oils?  I like the almond oil from ARE.  Smells good too.  Buit what about the summer after you shave?  Are you more prone to burns with less hair?  I know my head and arms feel alot cooler after I have shaved them.  My wife is not too fond of it but she does say my butt looks as toned as a `12 year old boy.  I guess that could be good or bad if you are around the wrong priest!  I have to say I like the smooth feel while it lasts and at least the razor does not give the prickly sensation that shaving does after a couple of days of growth.  I guess if you were rich you could go for the laser.  Someone once asked when I did shave my legs are you a swimmer or cyclist?  I smiled and told them a bodybuilder.  All life is funny when you look closer, especially at stubble.  LOL

Testosterone Booster

Well, in my search for the training advantage I saw there are testosterone boosters.  Have any of you tried this and do they work or did the gains just occur anyway since you were not at a plateau?  The protein, creatine seem fine and have good science.  I am not so sure about the NO-Xplode though.  Seems like expensive hype to me so far.  Eating sucks though.  I need to switch over to more protein shakes that I can suck down without eating becoming like a chore.  I am getting sick of turkey breast.  The protein you can drink down fast like medicine.  Although with PB and a banana it isn’t half bad.  My legs were like rubber yesterday after a hard workout and today is back and shoulders-a day I dread.  The BO rows especially.  But, ya gotta sacrafice to meet your goals.

4 Day re-coup

Well, I gave myself permission for 4 days off to rest and repair so I would not have to do it later.  It is a good thing.  Catch up on sleep, let muscles and tendons fully repair and gives me juice to hit the weights hard.  I am looking forward to getting back on track.  Diet issues were not a problem.  Cooked a turkey breast, bought lots of Chicken and Tuna and will continue to push on.  Well it is Monday anyway and time to get off the rest wagon and join the work week as well as the normal weight week.

Arm Day

Well it is the day I enjoy most.  I like to prepare for the spring bunnies.  Not the Easter Bunny butr all those female friends that like to hang on a nice big shaped peice of meat-my biceps.  I have always been blessed with the appropriate shape but since BB I have added size and pizazz.  It is actually like a rest day in a way because I don’t end up fighting my squirming and using every accessory muscle in my body.  I isolate very well and take what I learn there to feel the muscle groups and stop "accessorizing" there too.  They  say that "guns" are natires way of telling would be trouble makers, "I am armed and dangerous.  Leave me alone."  Well I don’t have .50 Cal S&Ws but the .357 will do just fine.  Happy lifting y’all.

Nothing Much

Days there is nothing much to write about except for the sake of writng when it is best to remain silence.  Just enjoy the journey when you are not lifting you’re coasting, eating, supplementing but wait-that is bodybuilding. So today it is that and tomorrow it is pressing plates.  Especially if the ice storm hits…it will be pressing plates to keep warm…

 I think all that I have tried suck.

Pro 42 Bar is what I currently choke down. Let’s see a true review From Greggamma of “Buddha BodyBuilders”– Well this soft brick goes hands down as the worst we have tried yet. With a consistency of a stall circus peanut covered with a carob tasting covering it ranks right up there with a brussel sprout. The taste lingers behind like fermented feed from a hog feeder with a nice formaldehyde aftertaste. Whatever it is it is NOT work the money, 42 grams of protein or not.”

Today

Saturday, February 10th, 2007

Well status post pec day.  Soreness abounds.  Slow and steady weight movement seems to keep the soreness up, the weight down, the progress steady and muscle size increasing for this old man.  I will never bulk up fast like a young buck but I figure I will hit 240 before the need to trim before a "proverbial"  contest.  Maybe one day-that is actually a goal to go up there and embarass myself myself in front of everyone. But for now,  I will continue to "press on." 

I just wanted to welcome back my favorite muse-Kate.  Known by another name in the past.
