Oh Well

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Patience is a virtue and you will develop patience if you are a body builder.  Remeber the old Charles Atlas ads in the back of the comic books?  * Weeks and you would be buff and tough right?  O contrare!  Afetr a year I still don’t look like Charles Atlas let alone Arnold when he was 19.  But hold everything.  I am 46.  He was 19 with 4 years of bodybuilding behind him.  I figure as I have talked to others that 3 years is about when you start to look like you want unless you use juice.  No thanks.  As a student nurse one of my friends came to me and asked me what was wrong with is navel orange sized testicles!  I looked at this smokers striated pecs and had my answer confirmed-juice/anabolic steroids.  So, no juice for me, just persistence and patience.  And friends who check on me?  Please don’t be too concerned I have not posted any new pictures.  I am a slow work in progress.  Gains are continual but "hunkiness" is still avoiding me-for now…

Legs

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Who has this problem?  I lift on the second floor of my house.  I cannot do squats and deadlifts in the traditional sense as my legs are too strong which means the weights are too heavy.  The scenario is as follows-ceiling collapses and I die.  So I do the really slow reps with higher frequency and lighter weights.  I know they will get toned but I am not so sure they will ever look like Tom Platz’s!  Oh well, leg day so I will be wobbling around like a novice cowboy up in the saddle for 8 hours on the 1st ride of his life.  Fortunately I have some beer to ease the pain!!!

Rest

Monday, January 29th, 2007

After 3 straight days of working out I will rest.  Trying to put work into the bank before I know I will have no time seemd like a good idea.  It seems that all the training I have done prepared me for this endeavor but it was not necessary it appears as so often does; my schedule changed.  It seems we are in the end times and therefor I continue to lift.  I train my body and mind and soul as I know whatever happens will happen whether I fear it or not.

Having spiritual faith is as important as faith in your mind and body to push on until the end whenever that may be.  Pray for strength in all the realms of your activities as it will be required to help others as well as ourselves.  The is a time of reckoning but that is simply another way of saying we are all responsible for what we have done.  Make the most of your family, faith and fortitude while lifting.

SORE!

Sunday, January 28th, 2007

I think I hurt everywhere.  I am adding more exercises from Arnold’s book and at the encouragement of my friends here.  Right now I am not too happy with them but I am sure in 3 months time I will be kissing and hugging them.  I am lossing weight rapidly at this point as it is too much of an exercise to eat.  I will let my weight drop to where it wants to and then figure out where to go from there.  I know the bodyfat is dropping.  But I will stay concerned with the tape measure and the calipers.  I am keeping my protein drinks rolling as I think that will keep protein readily available in he blood for myofibril repair and growth.  I am pretty sure my ketones are high as well as protein.  I m taking in more fluids and have given up all sugar except in my morning and afternoon coffee.  Come on, sometimes we have to be realistic!

Oh, and don’t forget,  Watch or read, "AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH" by Al Gore and act on what you see.  We MUST save our planet so we can continue to bodybuild, love, grow and cherish our lives.

ps-wrie your congressmen and women!

Just a Day

Friday, January 26th, 2007

EVERYONE GET A COPY OF "AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH.’  Read the book or watch the DVD and make a difference.

Ok, there is my pitch for the day.  It is important to exercise my rights to lift weights.  If I can help save my planet for a place to lift and continue to do what I love I will do .  So if you love to lift and want to continue to lift and have this forum please see this movie or read the book and make a difference.

I bought Arnold’s book-The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding.  So I will learn to be the best I can be whether I reach that level or not I have already perfected the accent!!

When you out out of words for praise.

OMG!  Holy S…, Uhhh with a silent jaw drop, Blank stare-does not compute.  This is what I go through often when I look at the changes I have made here and when I see the changes my friends hae made.  How can you NOT progress with the support of others as well as the personal drive inherent in yourself.  We are the seeds and this is the fertile ground in which we have been planted.  I have to personally thank all of those who have been helpful to me posthumously Ashla, then Tonigal69, buttandlegs, geebs, burt the beast and others.  It has been so wonderful and my cup runneth over with constant motivation to lift, lift and lift

Today was biceps, squats and legs.  Good burn and good results.  I felt like a hooker on Sunday morning.

Work

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Did you ever notice that vacations are harder on the body than the mind.  I notice that weight training i not harder but you burn a whole lot less calories when you are not running around at work.  I must expend alot of calories.

The boobs are sore today from the standard bench and pec flys.  Even with addition of another work set nothing much changes.  Did you see that-nothing much but there is that "something."  I have added those little things into something.  I have been impressed with the discipline more than the gains I have acheived.  I thank myself but more so those who have offered me sage advice in this forum.  I am thankful.

Chest day

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

Today is a good day to lift.  Cold outside and ice everywhere.  I do notice that when it is colder there are moments when the lifting is harder at full extension like pec flys.  I know I just have to slow down and be more cognizant of those critical pull points.  I also started using a self tanner to accentuate the muscle development and pure vanity-yes I admit it.  I have entered my midlife crisis early and unabashedly have used products to increase my attractiveness.  Thank God for the new hairstyles for men; I will never have to worry about the crown effect.  No worry now but I am keeping my eye on it!  Oh, by the way, the tan looks great. Loreal brand if you are interested-no streaks!

Thank God!!!

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

I love this place.  Where else can you have friends who show you how they look, tell you how you can look, training tips, etc.?  I tell you, after I talk to friends on the site I feel like running up to my weight room and throwing my weights through the ceiling with effort.  It is true,  whether you are meditating, practicing Christianity, weight lifting, etc…it helps so much to be and commune with others who are doing the same thing you are.  Face it guys, we are visual.  Stimulation in picture and word is a great aphrodisiac for running to the gym.  How could I ever be anemic when I love heavy metal?

Stimulation

Friday, January 19th, 2007

What motivates you or me to lift?  With a constant flow of visual images for men it is not hard to find stimulation.  The visual cortex with the corona radiata are just wired different in men.  We see we respond sometimes before the brain can fully apply the brakes.  But my latest motivation is "The 300"  The famous Battle of Thermopylae.  Lifting with discipline makes us Jr. Spartans in one aspect.  A passion to accel in one aspect of life.  Who does not want to be a hero at least once,  who does not want to bind themselves to there fellow man in gloom and doom to fight the good fight with faith and friends to the end protecting a noble cause?  We will never to sword battle and cross spears or blades with the likes of the Persian army of Xerxes but we do battle our way everyday.  So let us live well, fight the good fight of family, faith, friends and freedom conquering our selves so our true nature can shine.  Damn it!!! Pass me 2 more 45 pound plates!!!
