Ideal Measurements?
Saturday, February 10th, 2007There is at least one article on bodybuilding.com that gives you a formula to calculate your ideal body measurements. ( http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/calbs.htm ). You put your wrist size in and it tells you optimum measurements for other body parts. So, when I type in 6 for my wrist measurement, it tells me that my chest should be 39, my waist should be 27.299, hips 33.15, biceps 14, forearms 11.3,thighs 20.67, calves 13.26, neck 14.43. I guess the only ones I match are the thighs and calves.
Firstly, although not specifically noted, this is obviously for a male and not a female. The ideal male bodybuilding shape is supposed to be the upside down triangle, right? - broad shoulders tapering down to a smaller waist and slim hips. Also, I guess a man’s neck is not supposed to be slender, while a woman’s should be.
However, the ideal female form would be the hourglass. Chest and hips about the same measurements, with a small waist. Is there a debate about this? I’m not sure. I was looking at some female figure competitors in the March 07 edition of Oxygen and they had NO WAIST and NO HIPS. Why are they competing?
My goal (since my chest is not quite 35) is to add an inch, and get rid of an inch from my hips. Then they’ll both be 36. I also want to take my waist down a couple inches, I still am carrying some fat so I know I can at least get it down to 24". This would be going in the right direction, as far as symmetry, correct? Someone who knows more about this, please tell me what you think. : )
