after workouts…."Some like it Hot " Body Softening Thermal Scrub….available at Target. With "self activating therminerals" …did they invent that word? I believe so. Anyway, when you rub it on your skin it really is hot. Great for sore muscles!

1) Canned chicken and tuna(no explanation necessary)
2) Big bag of frozen strawberries (good in smoothies, or just thaw part way and sprinkle a pack of splenda - good ice cream craving substitute.)
3) Romaine lettuce (salad)
4) 36 pack of eggs
5) Big pack of Frigo string cheese (this is a great snack for work, especially if you are not supposed to eat at your cubicle and need to be stealthy. Low fat, good protein source, and quiet - no telltale crunching.)
6) Oatmeal, large box, variety flavors.
7) Packs of chicken for baking.
Still working on my list. Trying to update BodySpace and photos and get back into updating on a regular basis!!

I went to the drug store yesterday morning (9:30 A.M.) and there was a guy ahead of me in the checkout line buying a HUGE heart shaped box of chocolate and a CASE of Budweiser. I said "It looks like you’re all set for Valentine’s day!" and he looked a little bit embarrassed. He looked like he probably bought cases of beer on a regular basis. Kind of pale and malnourished and old before his time. I would also guess that he started drinking that case before noon. Hope him and his sweetheart had a good Valentine’s but I doubt they have a happy, healthy life.
As for me and my husband, Friday (the 13th) was his first day of Chemo. So I gave him a break on the Valentine’s day stuff this year and we had a low key day and watched a couple of movies from Blockbuster. It was nice though. No beer! Rotisserie chicken and salad for dinner. ; )
Wishing everyone a relaxing Sunday. I am headed to the gym soon.

ok. This doesn’t really have to do with bodybuilding. MONEY has really been on my mind this week. More good news yesterday as my son got accepted to NC State College of Management. Now I will have 1 starting at UNC and 1 at State next fall. Two freshman in college … arrgh. I am happy but thinking about the $$.
If I was more unethical it seems there are many more ways to get money. The Ponzi scheme is one. Just have investors send your their millions. : ). Here is my other idea. Some people think the world is going to end on December 21st 2012. I could create a website and tell people that in order to go to heaven, they need to get rid of all their worldly possessions. By selling them and sending the money to me.
It seems there are always gullible people out there. Did you read about the guy who scammed several hundred thousand dollars from family and friends by telling them that he was going to scan their bodies from space (from a satellite) and diagnose any medical problems? And then if there was a medical problem, secret agents would come and administer medicine to them while they were sleeping! Get this. The news article said "family and friends". That means that a NUMBER of people fell for this.
Well, considering I don’t want to take advantage of people. Guess I will just have to WORK HARD to get more money. And hope for scholarships for the kids.
Wishing everyone a great weekend and a great workout.

And can lead to queasiness.
Even if it is homemade, and delicious.

I got this comment recently from two women at work when I was telling them about lifting weights. "Don’t overdo it," "You don’t want to have too much muscle", "You don’t really want to look like that?" This coming from two coworkers who are attractive but a little bit overweight.
I am not really sure what pictures they had in their mind of women bodybuilders. I told them…
"I already have some muscle…do you think I look like a man right now?"
"No, but just stay like you are right now. Don’t go any further."
Okayyyy. I did not really spend a lot of time trying to alter their opinions.

I was so happy Thurs. a.m., I did squats with 70 pounds (35 pd. weights on each side of the bar. Not much for some… it was for me though. Trying to increase my strength. My legs are still sore. On my way to do 20 mins. cardio and then upper body today. Have lost 1.5 pounds since Jan. 1st, at 131.5 this a.m. No idea really of my body fat % since I am not sure how accurate my scale is, but I am fairly sure it was all fat I lost.
In other happy news, my son went 5 and 0 in his wrestling tournament, and my daughter got accepted to UNC chapel hill (they received around 24,000 applications and accepted less than 4,000 freshman). A good start to the weekend… : )

1. Go to a large public place. Walmart is good. If it’s the summertime, someplace like King’s Dominion works well.
2. Count the number of people who look like they are in better/worse shape than you are.
3. Try to find someone over the age of 12 with a flat stomach.
4. Count the number of people you see who are not visibly overweight.
5. Try to find someone who looks like they might actually weight train.
At the end of this exercise, you will either feel better about yourself, or just depressed about the state of society. Hopefully it will be the first.

And I am tired of it.
I have a pretty nice scale (Tanita) which we normally keep in the bathroom. Since wrestling season has started, often I go in there and it is GONE. Well, normally I know where to look - in my son’s room. He is on the wrestling team and trying to keep at 135 pounds. But now he’s actually started taking it out of the house and to the school… I know they don’t have a big budget for wrestling, but surely they have a scale at the school?? I thought about getting him a scale for Christmas, but he wanted shoes. I should have gotten him the scale instead. I am going to blame him when I get fat. : (

One goal for the New Year: deal with stress better.
We all have stress in our lives.
Mine:
1. Dysfunctional workplace. Who will quit or get fired today?
2. Husband diagnosed with cancer in September. I carry the health insurance. I can’t quit work or get fired. (See # 1).
3. Two teenagers. They are not talking to each other right now and trying to make me the go between. "Tell him this." "Tell her that" …
4. A cat who likes to chew wires and has ruined 3 cell phone chargers.
5. This crazy world. Has everyone gone mad?
and so on….
(deep breath)…
