HIIT
June 24, 20076/24/07 Even though I would have rather eaten chocolate and chilled on the beach, I went to the gym. I did my first HIIT routine and loved it. I used the treadmill, on interval training, I entered in my time of 15 minutes, my jog speed at 3.4 and run speed of 5.5. Every 20 seconds I hit interval and it went from jog to run. I thought it was easy and will increase my speeds next time. I am not as exhausted as I usually am after doing a straight mile and it was not as boring. My pulse only went to 165 max. and I burned 200 calories in the 15 minutes.
6/27 at run speed of 5.8 and jog speed at 3.4, I ran 1 mile in 12.54. I Did 1 mile at 8am and 1 mile at 8pm.
6/28 at run speed of 6.0 and jog speed at 3.4, I ran 1 mile in 12.09, last 10 mins. changed to 20 sec run, 10 sec walk. Lots of weight lifting today.
6/29 same speeds as above, 1 mile in 11.26 (better) and 2 miles in 26.34 (needs work)
6/30 Saturday OFF
7/1 3.8 jog speed and 6.0 run speed 1 mile in 11.29 and 2 miles in 23.45 (much better)
7/7 3 miles - 42.14 at constant jog speed of 4.4 yuck!!
7/9 4.0 jog speed and 6.0 run speed 1 mile-11.30, 2 miles-23.46, 3 miles 36.48
8/8 3 miles - 42 mins. yuck
School year 2006-2007
June 18, 2007As I read over Shankyw’s blogs it brought back my thoughts of school. It truly is amazing how many women over the age of 40 just let their bodies go. At the start of the school year I weighed 192lbs and was in size 18 probably headed to a 20. I was totally in that category at 33% bodyfat. Over 40, damn what the hell happened. So, as I mentioned I joined Bally’s for my 41 birthday and hired a trainer. Yes, it cost alot of money ,as every teacher at school has asked me. However, I stopped spending money on pizza and going out to eat. I then had to get a part-time job to pay for the trainer. By Christmas I was at 22% and I jogged my first 5k. I had to buy new clothes as I was down to a size 14. By Spring Break I was down to a size 12 and at 18%. On my first field trip with the kids, I wore a tank top and almost every student had a comment about my shoulders. The prom closed out the year and other than students telling me how beautiful I looked the number one comment was "you do not look 41". It is now obvious that I am a role model for many young women that need a strong woman to look up to and I look forward to letting them know that 40 is not that bad.
