A few bad days, but clean bulk still going

So I’ve had a few bad days here and there while traveling, but overall my clean bulk is still going well.  My bad days usually come when I’m traveling because I haven’t been packing a full line-up of meals like I do when I cut.  The different food is fun on the road and it has just caused me to gain a little more weight here and there than I would have at home eating my 100% clean foods.  But, over the past 9 weeks, I’ve managed to gain about 12 pounds and approximately 7lbs of that has been regained muscle.  I still have about 10lbs of muscle to gain though to get back to my highest level of lean body mass from about 3 years ago when I had just over 220lbs of lean body mass, but at a bodyweight of 313lbs.  I’m hoping to get back to 220lbs of lean body mass, but at a weight around 60lbs lighter, before cutting back down.

Hopefully on the way I can get some sort of weight room personal best in either a clean, squat, or bench.  But, most of them seem pretty fat off right now.  Today I squatted 440 for 3 reps in my second heavy squat workout in several years and it felt pretty solid- but a far cry from my best of 565 for 2, once again at 310+lbs.  I will get a better idea of where I’m at on bench tomorrow as I plan to try and move some bigger weight there.

I need to move some bigger weights to get my basic strength up if I’m actually going to try and throw some this  year.  My throwing training though has been relegated to the back burner and I have only been doing throwing specific abdominals, and winds with heavy weight and hammers.  Easy does it!

It is somewhat depressing to see my abs fading, but they are still readily recognizable and I know how to get them back now!  I’ve just got to stay the course and understand that some fat will be added back in along with the muscle.  Then, come january, I will diet for around 14 weeks to try and drop around 20lbs of fat and finally break into the 6% barrier!  Thanks for reading and good luck with your training goals.
