I wanted to tell you all what happened to me last Thursday but I decided to keep it to myself because it seemed like a one time deal but that’s not the case because the same thing happened today!!!!!

Last Thursday during Muay Thai class (which is also Leg Day) we were practicing round house kicks. During our practice drill my partner stuck his elbow out and when I landed my kick the point of his elbow went right into my ankle. It really hurt at the time but I shrugged the pain off and kept going. When I got home my ankle was throbbing and the pain was unbearable. The next day I had to stay home all day and nurse my ankle because I couldn’t walk on it anymore. I didn’t have a walking cane or crutches so I just hoped all over my house. The day after that I was able to walk with just a heavy limp. Then I was back to normal by that Sunday. On Monday I told my instructors what happened and they told me that it will happen again and to go buy either some crutches or a walking cane. I laughed at them and said "Aww! It won’t happen again. My chin guards weren’t tight enough and that’s how his elbow got me." They gave me this "Ok Ms Knowitall! You’ll see"

"We all have walking canes. You don’t need them all the time but there are situations during a sparring match or a real fight you’ll find yourself using them the next day" said Diamond (One of the instructors)

Well guess what? They were right! Today we were practicing round house kicks and guess what happened? Yup! Another elbow to my ankle AND CHIN! Yes even with chin guards the elbow can hurt. So after training today I went to the local thrift store near my center and brought a crutch (they didn’t have any walking canes). I was fine until I got home and then BOOB! The pain hit me hard and just like last week my leg begin to swell and throb with extreme pain. So guess what I’ll be using tomorrow?

*sigh* Sometimes I wonder why I like this crazy sport in the first place.

Looks like I’m gonna change my cardio method

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Ok, I have been hella busy lately but I’m gonna get those update pictures taken and uploaded by the end of this week. I need to show the big improvement in my body so you all can remove the image of me and my BIG GUT out of your minds. LOL

Anywho, it looks like I’m going to have to change my cardio method. Before I started getting very serious with Muay Thai I stuck to slow cardio for one hour twice a day. However, during my training at my center I noticed that my endurance is low. I have a lot of power but no wind. This is not good and since I’m getting so much individual teaching/coaching from my Muay Thai instructors I have found myself devoting more time to improving in that. Now of course this will not interfere with my contest prep. However, I need to redo my diet. Right now I’m on a keto diet which works well for me because I’m extremely cardio sensitive. But I think I’m going to have to adjust this as I start adding high intensity cardio into my workout so that I last longer during my Muay Thai sparring.

I’ll be sure to go into the forums and ask around to see if any of the "Pros" have any suggestion. If anyone reading this has any knowledge of Keto and high intensity training please feel free to answer here on my blog.

thanks

New STATS for the start of week of 6

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

I don’t know what my problem is but I’m back to being 80% committed to my diet. My stats show improvement but not the type of improvement that proves I’m 100% committed to leaning out for March. I blame Muay Thai because the sport I was not so enthused about when I first started is the sport I’m doing sooooooooooo well in now. I don’t want to lean out too soon that it affects my performance in Muay Thai. I already had to cut out BJJ! I refuse to cut out both before March get here.

*sigh* Oh well no need to whine about it now. Pics will come some time this week. So stay tune for that.

Stats from November 1st

  • Weight - 180lbs
  • right biceps - 13
  • left biceps - 13.5
  • Waistline (navel level) - 33
  • Below navel - 36
  • Hips - 42
  • right upper thigh - 24
  • left upper thigh - 23.5
  • Right middle thigh - 21
  • Left middle thigh - 21
  • Calves - 15

Stats for December the 6th.

  • Weight - 173lbs
  • right biceps - 13
  • left biceps - 13.5
  • Waistline (navel line) - 29
  • Below navel - 33
  • Hips - 40
  • right upper thigh - 23
  • left upper thigh - 23
  • Right middle thigh - 20
  • Left middle thigh - 20
  • Calves - 15 I’m not going to measure my calves anymore because due to genetics they never change in size.

So I lost only 7 lbs and my stomach has gone down big time (which is easy for me). I don’t know why it is but most people have a hard time losing their stomachs but that’s the easiest part for me to lose but my butt and thighs are a different story!!!!!!

I’m not really trippin about the entire thing because I want to come in contest shape at 155lbs. I refuse to be less than that this time around. So I have 4 months to lose 18lbs. Wait? I have 4 months to lose only 18lbs? Hmmmm, now that I put it that way………….WHAT THE HELL AM I WORRIED ABOUT?

Sheesh! Things look more logical typed out on my blog then flying around in my head. Ok, I’m otta here. Gotta hit the gym. Today is LEG DAY! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I was so busy today that didn’t go to the gym today because I’ve been sitting behind this computer all day today doing work. UGH! Not only that but I had to be here for the repair man to come and install my new gas range stove that will barely be used!!!!! Yes, I barely use my oven during prep mode!

Ok well I’m gonna make this entry short because I’m still in "work mode". So I’m not gonna get all caught up in blogging and get back to work.

BTW - Did you vote today?

So today I did shoulders and back. I started doing pull ups and I can fill the muscles in back bulging. I never felt that before but then again I never did pull ups before. I noticed that each year I add something to my exercise routine that improves my physique even more. I always used the excuse of having long arms to prevent me from doing pull ups but when I saw a video of Quincy Taylor (who’s 6′4") and Toney Freeman (who’s 6′2") do them with no problem that’s when I started to get my act together and stop making excuses. I’ve been doing them for a month now and I can tell that I’m getting stronger each week by adding two extra reps.

Ok I was going to talk about Muay Thai but I’m tired and I think I’m gonna go to be early tonight. I really worked my ass off in the gym today.

BTW! Don’t forget to vote for Making_A_Change

You can vote several times (found this out doing it myself)

So tomorrow is T day

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

And tomorrow is the day I finally have my official cheat meal. I’m not going to go all out and truth be told I’m not doing the Thanksgiving thing anyway. I don’t have any plans for tomorrow except for working out and catching up on work. Hey? Don’t worry……..I’ll be just fine. I’m still in contest prep mode and I’m not really in the mood to binge on traditional thanksgiving meals. So my cheat meal tomorrow will be my favorite cheat meal……….OATMEAL PANCAKES!!!! For those of you who followed me on my journey last year noticed that I love having breakfast food as my cheat meal. I either have pancakes, waffles, french toast or several egg & cheese biscuits. Mmmmmm! Since I was half assing with my diet the first two weeks of this month I decided to not allow a cheat meal until I got my act together. I finally got my act together two weeks ago and now I’m 100% in the game.

Ok, I’m gonna have to cut this one shot because I’m pressed for time. I’ll be back later to talk about my Muay Thai class last night.

Was MIA but now I’m back

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Oh how I missed my BB.com

I was gone for damn near three days but now I’m back. Being a one woman show has it’s good points and down points. The good thing is that I get paid all the money earned because I scratch out the middle man. The bad things is that when things break down or websites go on the blitz I have to drop everything and handle it personally. Why? Because I don’t have a middle man to do it for me. But no worries because I believe in that old saying "If you want something done right you have to do it yourself."

So I’m on week four of my contest diet and the fat is slowly melting away. I’ll be taking progress pictures next week to show off my improvements. I’m looking forward to that. Soon I’m going to prepare my gym back for Muay Thai today and then eat my 3rd meal. I have more to say but I’m press for time.

Just wanted to let you all know that I’m alive and still kickin’

So for the second time I had to choose between working Legs or going to my MMA center and I had to pick Legs. I hate missing Muay Thai training. I hate it, hate it, hate it!!!!!!! I’m also behind in some office work. Right now I’m tired from drilling my legs and I still have some work to do!

BTW - Vote for Making_A_Change. She’s a really cool chick who has a pair of wheels that I would kill for! However, I’ll be getting those wheels as soon as my comp day approaches. They are not seen at the moment due to all the FAT covering them. LOL!!!!

Tomorrow is arms and I’ve been sticking with my cardio every morning. At first I was doing it for 5 days a week but now it turned into a habit so what was 5 days a week turned into 7 days a week. I don’t have a problem with doing morning cardio because that’s the time when I get to think about my day. It’s very relaxing. I know that’s hard to believe but my morning cardio is relaxing. Meh? Go figure.
