Psychological Fuel for a Vigorous Workout
June 11, 2009I’m sure we’ve all had moments when either a co-worker annoys the bejeezus out of us or perhaps your boss is constantly riding your back about deadlines or performance, so to speak. Hell, if you’re anything like me, I get riled up with road rage when i encounter stupid drivers.
The point is: all that stress begins to build up.
Everyone eventually reaches that breaking point and undoubtedly unleash all the angst and tension negatively. I say, why not reverse that stressful energy and use it to help fuel your workouts.
Generally, I bottle up all that energy and I go to the gym first thing that morning. I perform my routine sets as usual. However, before I perform them, I focus on all the stressful occurances throughout the week or so and then I proceed to workout. This helps you to not only release that energy throughout your sets, but also to refresh your mind from that cluster. Think of your mind as being as refreshed as a beautiful sky after a rainy day. Trust me, this works wonders.
I’m sure we all remember the lovable character, Bobby Boucher, from the film Waterboy. Bobby was picked on throughout his either life. Whether it was his father, teacher, class mates, etc. Bobby let all the energy build up until he finally released that angst on the football field in an explosive fashion.
Don’t let the rocky roads of life get you in a slump and contribute to continuous depression and stress. Take that negative energy to the gym and refocus it to help you all achieve your goals.
Thanks for reading and good luck.
