stupid muscle guy

i had a really bad experience in a local gnc store last night..i am starting a new training plan and was recommended a different protein powder than i had been using..well instead of ordering it online at like half the price, i decided in order to not wait the 3 or so days for it to arrive, i went to one of the local gnc stores in my area..BAD idea..lets rewind a bit..the very first time i ever entered a gnc store i was a nervous wreck..i totally had to psych myself up as i thought it was only for "muscle people" and i didnt want to look dumb or out of place..well..i made it through the first trip and have had nothing but good experiences so far..but walked in last night with a different guy working..young..full of muscles..and an ego that nearly made me walk back out of the store before reaching the counter..but i figured i was there for a reason..so after a quick glance for what i was searching for..i could tell i wasnt going to find it..and even though he never asked if i needed any help..i asked him if they carried allmax products..and he immediately said no..so i said, oh ur website carries it i guess i will just get it offline..so then he almost acted nice and told me he could probably order it and save me the shipping cost..wow..he seemed like maybe he was going to be helpful and i probably misjudged him..but then nope..when i told him the product i wanted..he told me that allmax didnt sell anything with that name..and i know i am not stupid, but of course it made me question myself..so i looked it up in my wonderful new phone..and was completely positive that i was right..so i had to SPELL it out for him and then said, it is a protein made for women (hello, i am a woman..go figure) and then he said "oh yeah, we do carry that" and it was about 3 feet away from where the jerk was standing..and believe me, i dont call him stupid just cuz he didnt remember what products they sold..but once i brought the container to him to ring up (notice he didnt even offer to reach it down for me like all the other awesome workers usually do) he told me that he didnt think i really wanted that and that he thought i should try something else..seriously..u didnt even know u SOLD the product..how could u know it wasnt right for me?? so i told him it was recommended for me..and instead of just ringing up the sale..he questioned me on who my trainer was and why they would recommend it for me..OMG..i just wanted to smack the jerk..just sell me the bottle of overpriced protein already dude!! so as an fyi to all u great looking muscle guys out there..no matter how awesome ur outside package is..arrogance can take every ounce of sexiness away from u..dont talk down to women about training (we wouldnt be wanting info and asking questions if we didnt want to be more health focused) and certainly dont think that just because someone doesnt look like they r a bodybuilder that they know nothing about fitness and what is right for their bodies!! i left the store completely appalled with his disrespect and attitude..and will be more than willing to drive another 20 miles to the other store if i ever need anything just to avoid running into him again!!

Lol that’s funny! I had pretty much the samething happen to me last time I went to GNC. The dude working was a complete idoit. At least I know that I’m not the only one that’s not a fan of that place. I’ll just order online from now on!!!

  2. GymZombie Says:

So did you buy the protein or did you just walk out?

  3. jacked in MI Says:

Jackie, you are not the only one that feels this way. I have not shopped GNC in years because of this. You should contact corporate GNC and provide them with the information in your blog.

    Hey friend!
Unfortunely there are a lot of ***holes in this sport, and not a lot of openminded dudes when it comes to training and supplementing. Everyone (almost..) thinks their formula is the best, and don’t you dare to tell them otherwise..
Do your program, with an open mind, test your results and take your own conclusions, and nevermind these ***holes!
Your progress is the best argument to shut everyone up. You just have to want it badly enough! And then go back to that or any other store and walk your sexyness around ;)
Ho, and share it with your bb.com friends :D

It’s too bad people, anybody, has to be that way…unfortunately that won’t be your last encounter with a jerk. Hope your new program and new protein works out great for you.

GNC while they sell a lot of products, they still try to push their own brand. I believe that have a quota to do so. Unfortunately some of the people that work there pressure people (mostly women) into buying something they dont need, or scaring them right out of the store. The point to keep in mind is that none of these people are licensed doctors or physicians. They can advise all they want, but thats all it is…advice, and in most cases not very good advice at that.

How can a 19 year old really give solid advice to a 45 year old on certain aspects of supplementation? If they recommend something you can listen if you have the patience, I do, mainly becuase its their job, and some micromanager is probably listening to see if they at least pitched the product. But after they are done, you simply say, thanks but no thanks, I’ll stick with what i came in for. Done, & Done.
    Peace!

Good for you Beautiful. I love when jerks can get a little of what is coming right back at them.

  9. THURSTON40 Says:

Yeah, My advice would be to stay away from GNC all together heh. The owner of the nutrition store i got to used to co-own 5 down in the Houston area and he got out of it. Said he was tired of being told what he could and couldn’t sale, and how much of a certain brand he needed to sale. I have not been to GNC in probably over a year and my personal results have gotten much better.

  10. Polarmagic Says:

Well your right about the arrogance thing. I would not completly stay away from the store not everyone is like that guy. I mean let’s face it sometimes you want and need the instant fix for things. As long as you have what your looking for in mind.. it’s normally a quick in and out..

    ^_^

I hate to make this sort of comment due to liveing in VT and haveing many Gay frends BUT does this guy smoke pole or what!!!???
Haveing the package does not make up for being an ******* and not haveing anything other than sawdust in your head. The reason I make this comment is becaus he would have to not find women at all interesting to be that kind of DICK!

Stupid muscle guy! Great post, I am sorry that you had to encounter such a meat head. Just remember that common sence is not that common anymore. You keep on making your gains and stay focused, your progress pics look great.
