9/1/06 - Pulled 3 plates on HS low row!

September 2, 2006

That was my back goal since sometime early summer.  That’s when W8 reached it and I saw it as a goal I could reach.  Pulled it for two separate rows, with just a regrip for the left hand, no rest.

I intended to now focus on chest but shoulder pain is going to delay that.  Aleve and rest is the presription for now.  I guess I’ll start focusing on squats.

Squatting = fun 8/29/06

August 29, 2006

Due to 100+ degree heat, my squatting this summer has sucked.  With a nice 80º day on sunday, I decided to get back into it.  I set a PR but had more in me.  Glad I stopped cuz I can’t really walk or sit without pain today, 2 days later.  I’ll hit them up again this week and I’ll try to get back into deads in the next few weeks.

My shoulder is keeping me out of pressing again.  I’m following the common advice and giving it a rest.  I’ll be seing a doc in a few weeks if it’s not better.  I’m enjoying the RC exercises, really feels good.

8/23/06

August 23, 2006

OK, I just figured out how to post multiple posts.  I was hopping for the decending date view, but can’t find that.

 I set 3 PR’s this week.

My current focus is back and I’m up to 250 (2 plates + 35/side)on the HS low row and 230 on another HS row.  W8 had 3/side and that’s my goal for now.  When I can do that for 4 reps, I’m moving to focus on chest.  I got up to 250 yesterday on the wide chest iso HS.  That’s a PR by 60 lbs.  I hadn’t done it in a while and I was still sore from my 100 lb marathon on Sunday.

My current plan is to reach 3 plates/side on back, 3 plates/side on wide iso (both for 4 reps) and then move to a squat focus and then deadlift.  I’m using a lot of freeweights, but like the HS for tracking progress due to consistency.  My gym has many different brands/types of benches that seem to affect the #’s I put up.  I also do not have a training partner so going for PR’s on bench isn’t really in the cards w/ no spotter.  Luckily I have a bench/cage at home.  I just need to convince my wife to spot me.

Journal, blog, whatever. Here it is.

August 14, 2006

I’m cutting on CKD now. I’ll track weight as I cut then lifts as I bulk.

Began CKD diet on 7/19/06 at 218.6 (morning weight)

As of today, 8/2/06, it’s 212.8 and I’m down two belt loops. None of them will fit after I lose another loop.

My lifting split is currently:
Sunday - squats (at home)
Monday - Upper body (dips, pullups, bench, rows, some bi/tri work)
Tuesday - Shoulder work that doesn’t re-use monday muscles
Wednesday - light cardio
Thursday - cardio and legs (leg press, leg extension, ham curl, calves)
Friday - Upper body beginning with bench/row

My energy crashed when I first cut the carbs but I’m doing well now. I’m having trouble not going above 1g/lb of lbm for protein though.

I have noticed that endurance has dropped when lifting so my splits are limited.
