I'm toying with the idea of making my own sprint tri training series based on examples from beginnertriathlete.com, triswimcoach.com, and crossfit. Thing is I don't want to get too ambitious and end up blowing the whole thing.
I do not want to give up lifting. I don't care what anyone says especially when people that are devoted to one spectrum of fitness that say strictly cardio and carbs. If there is a way I'll find it, if not I'll struggle to make it.
I know I'll have to incorporate swimming probably 4x/week since that is my weakest, but I'd also like to improve my times for running/cycling.
Swimming: Form, then speed
Running/Biking: HIIT
Weights: I don't think doing supersets will hurt me and I think it'll help with muscular endurance which will help in the above two? I'd like to focus more on bodyweight exercises also.
This was interesting:
Yoga: For flexibility/coordination/balance
I also saw we recently aquired a Jacob's ladder which I'm dying to try.
I've recently started sprint tri's and duathlons and this all makes a lot of sense to me, just keep experimenting and you will find the proper blend of exercises to suit you, and pass the knowledge on!
Go for it. Sounds like an interesting gauntlet to push through for total physical fitness.
Dream big who cares if you" blow out".. anyone who is known for doing things that have gone anywhere failed repeatedly ...SO DREAM BIG!
Michael Phelps is a serious weightlifter. Started lifting a few years before he won his golds.
that is one immensley strong boy! massive core strength needed to pull most of that off.i have recently started doing more bodyweight stuff with compound lifts.seems to be a good idea to me.after all the pullup is regarded as just as important as a squat and its a bodyweight excercise,we all do them so why not do more?
great idea,as for the swimming and running, cant do either...:)
