Leave your attitude at the door
When I train I focus on what I'm doing, if I'm doing it correctly, and if I can push through my workout.
I was watching a women's soccer game and a player from another team obviously hit another player but the referee didn't see it. The thing is, the woman didn't retaliate and in the next play scored a goal. She brought up the term "cold as ice". She could have retaliated, got benched, made a big deal. But instead chose to use it to her advantage.
In Phelp's autobiography he described in one of the olympic trials how he could feel one of the other competitors sizing him up but he chose not to pay attention to it. He won that race. This brings me back to the term, "cold as ice".
People go to the gym for various reasons. But the people that get further are people that adopt attitudes that will strengthen the MIND. Because honestly, mental toughness is what gets you through bad AND good days. When practicing this occurs, lifting, exercise, other aspects of life...get EASIER.
I'm not there to run my mouth, one-up the person next to me, it doesn't matter what is in my bank account, or what I do for a living.
It is to FINISH what I START.
It is between ME and ME, because some days I will be my worst enemy and MASTERING and MANIPULATING your OWN thoughts, your OWN demons will make it easier to manage others.
A good post...it's exactly how I approach my training,it's only about being a better ME...not comparing myself to others...You,my friend are a true original on this site...keep up the good work!
Great post. I completely agree with having that mind set to just focus yourself and on what you need to accomplish and to just finish what you start. I learned to compare myself only to the person that I was yesterday. I found that once I was able to get past this step was when all aspects of my life really started to progress.
