First day with the new trainer….

AND he killed me! i know, i have melodramatic tendencies and all, but for real..

SOOOOOOOOOOOO i’ve been house bound for the last 5 days.. haven’t been to the gym (in the name of "recovery" and 14 inches of snow.. but i digress).. and i KNEW it would be tough to come back.. but i was excited and even had a pre-workout workout by shoveling about 14 inches of snow that completely surrounded my car just to get out!!!

so i see new trainer, jay, and celebrate a "you survived the snow" high 5 and started my "warm up" on the treadmill.. suddenly he says, "stay here young lady (he’s 25.. im not young).. we have some fun to have right here.." HUH??!! so yeah.. suddenly he says "warm ups over" and the incline goes to 15% and the speed to 7.5 MPH.. ok.. i can do this.. OR CAN I?? I did for the 2 minutes but i couldn’t feel my legs.. Then it’s time for 15 "man-makers", which is just glorified BURPEE with a pushup on dumbells and a dumbbell row each arm while in plank position.. pretty easy, right? that’s what i thought.. so i finally got those done and had 15 one legged step ups to balance in the 24 inch box.. then 500 meter row under 2:10 (the last 100 under 2:00) then 20 modified knees to chest (with him using his own weight as resistance on my knees.. dirty trick!) .. and repeat..

Once i caught my breath, and the lactic acid out of my body, I asked him "so we did man-makers.. what’s a woman-maker?" he says, "that’s next time… and it’s WAY tougher." DAMN STRAIGHT!!!! =)

So it’s a good thing I’m cute.. haha.. and as Crlgrl says, DEDICATED.. cuz I did something this morning that i’m not sure i could pull off EVER again… After working a 12 hour night shift, and getting off work at 0500, I decided that I would head to the gym BEFORE i went home to sleep.. cut down on a trip back into town, is what my thinking was.. CLEARLY this lil froggie wasn’t thinking too practically.. But I wasn’t feeling super tired and its not like i’m on my feet for the 12 hours.. it’s just the staying awake that’s the hardest part..

 So I got to the gym and started with some Back.. the usual stuff.. Trying to lift a combo of heavy and lighter.. Not really killing myself but trying to get a good burn.. So then I knew it was a speed day for running but i couldn’t recall what exactly it was, so I just started running and sent a text to CG (yes.. i CAN text and run) asking what it was..CRAP! next time ima just gonna make up my own run cuz i just about tripped and fell off the treadmill when at 0622 the text read 8 miles.. 4×1600 at prescribed 10:27 pace with 800 M jogs… Well holy hell.. thank goodness i was already into my 2nd mile! And I was fading fast.. I’m sooooooooooooooooooooooo happy to have had the 800 M jogs.. And soooooooooooooooooooooo happy to be on the treadmill where i can just punch in numbers without thinking.. haha..

During the run, 2 different trainers came up and asked what i was doing there that early and WHY OH WHY?? can’t you just TELL her you did the run??? NO!!! I CANNOT, thank you very much. I have made a commitment and I will see it thru.. CG’s worth it! =) Plus we have our "virtual" 10 miler together this Sunday.. I gotta be ready =)

So when all was said and done, I ran my 1600 at a 8:00 pace and my 800 M jogs at a 10:00 pace.. Finishing in 68:39.. My right hamstring at the insertion has really been bugging me during speed days.. Not sure what that’s about but i don’t like it! But i feel really good for getting that run under my belt today.. BRING ON THE 10 MILER!!
