Pretty Peppy Princess

Usually, I welcome weigh in’s and body comps like I welcome bamboo being shoved under my fingernails.. So today was really unlike any other day in that regard.. I saw Trainer J (TJ FROM NOW ON) coming at me with her bioimpedence gadget and measuring tape and I wanted to run… that would show her exactly how fast and strong I’m getting, I said to myself.. But darn it all, she got me and drug me kicking and screaming all the way…

 "ON" was all she said… so i dutifully did (just like the housewife I am NOT.. haha) and it showed up 2.5 pounds.. So i shoot her a look like "WTF TJ?" "remember the scale means very little" she says in her best Sensaye voice, all calm and zen-like.. ‘whatever’ i mutter as i drag my feet off the scale and walk the walk of death to get measured..

With arms stretched…. legs spread apart… standing tall, I endure the tortuous process of getting measured… I don’t even look… But I am dreading the results but at the same time I know in my heart of hearts I have gone down, I just don’t know what it’s going to show… So with my eyes still closed, I can hear the frantic scribble of her pencil and the clicking of the calculator.. Finally, I get the wind knocked out of me from her hugging me! And as she is doing so, she is telling me my numbers…

Weight up 2.5 pounds (still not thrilled but i’ll deal)….Upper arm down 0.25 inch…..Chest down 1.75 inch… Hip down 0.5 inch.. Thighs down 1 inch.. Total fat loss 4.0 pounds.. Lean Muscle increase of 7.8 pounds!!! These results are from Nov 23, 2007 to Jan 4, 2008 (about 5 weeks?) and a total of 13 sessions with JT.. PLUS lots and lots of cardio for my triathlon training (average 5 days/wk total 45-60 minutes and 1 day/2 hours)..

AND I"M ONLY 1/4 WAY THRU MY SESSIONS WITH TJ!!! :)

At this point, we are both jumping up and down hugging and high 5′ing like, well, i don’t know what like.. But it was quite the scene I tell ya!! And I still had chest to work but it was a really easy chest cuz we just posed down in front of the mirrors and laughed.. THEN I did 60 minutes of cardio and texted/called/messaged EVERY one I could think of.. when i got to my mom, I started crying.. Ever done cardio while crying??? DONT"!! haha…and what made me cry?? cuz she said "you inspire me, Sonja.. to be a better Mom.. a better person.. and a better athlete! I am not a Housewife.. I am an Athletes Mother!!"

And then we set new goals.. She would like to see me gain 4 more pounds of muscle to compensate for the muscle I will lose once my cardio starts exceeding 2 hours.. And loose another 10 pounds of fat.. So I have 6 months to do this!! WISH ME LUCK!!! :)

another killer leg workout

i know i post mostly leg workouts.. why?? cuz these are the ones i can remember.. haha.. but i’ll get some upper body ones from my trainer and post them as well because we’re going to be focusing more on upper body in the next few months to give me speed and endurance for the swimming portion of the triathlon…

SOOOOOOOOO… if u can bear to put up with another leg workout, here it is..

squats with 25 pound plates.. touch the floor.. x 20 x 3 with active rest of 1-legged lunges x 15 x 10 pounds x 2 then x 15 x 20 pounds..

jump squat with 8 pound medicine ball, throw it against the wall, catch it and down you go into plank position, balancing hands on the ball.. when you come up do another jump squat.. x 15 x 3.. active rest of squats on bosu ball x 20 x 20 pounds x 3.. oh, and here’s another one my trainer added… for every "weak" plank, I get to do 1 more… that’s motivation!! :)

cable dead lift x 20 x 35 pounds  x 2… active rest of 1-legged lateral jumps x 10 each leg x 2

1-legged dead lift x 20 x 5 pounds (doesnt sound like hardly any weight but these are KILLERS and my right hip keeps wantint to spasm!!) x 3

1-legged hamstring curl with ball x 10 each leg x 3.. active rest of knee jump tucks x 10 each side x 3
