I have to admit that I have really missed playing. And it’s been a very long time since college! So today, in honor of Midnight Madness quickly approaching, and my longing to play again, I did my old preseason bball workout. And here’s how it goes
2 min jump rope warm up
walking lunges 3 minutes with 25 pound dumbbells, followed by 2 minutes jump rope. Repeat x 3
leg press 210 pounds (yep, up a few pounds from just a few days ago) x 15 x 3. Jump rope 2 minutes in between each set
single leg extension 45 pounds (again up from a few days ago) x 12 x 3. Jump rope in between
plyometrics side jumps/front jumps x 3 each x 30 each leg.. followed by wall jumps and wall squats and abs in between….
and yes, this was a good workout.. I was sweating like a pig! (hey jillfitnbuff, i LUV ur saying about looking like a fox and sweating like a pig, btw!
) And suddenly this young boy of all of 18 comes up to me and asks, "what team do u play for?" I’m sure the look on my face could only be described as incredulous, because he quickly added "college team??" OH YOU DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH I WANTED TO HUG THIS YOUNG MAN!! but i did not. (i don’t have much decorum, but the little i DO have, i try to use).. And now, I’m walking around with a smile on my face and a little taller.. probably from all the jumping i did..
And btw, I"m going to be co-coaching my son’s bball team this winter. Yep, I’m gonna be teaching 6 & 7 year old boys some skillz!!! NIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!!!
