Lately I have felt like I have not made any progress, so I tightened my diet and looked through all my photo’s to try and sort them out ( with a digital camera I tend to take too many photograph’s, so I have got hundreds). It took me quite a few hours to sort through them (I’m still not finished). Then I came across photo’s from my nephew’s wedding in September 2006. The pictures of me made me want to cry, not because I was fat and out of shape, but because the grief even through my smiles was clearly on show. Then I remembered one of the reasons why I was doing all this exercise. I did not want to be that broken woman, the one whose life had been destroyed. My son’s life had been taken, but I did not want them to take mine or the rest of my families lives as well. I no longer drink huge amounts of alcohol to dull the pain or comfort eat. I’ve become fit, lost some weight, greatly improved my posture, my strength improves with every workout and I’ve got a Personal Training qualification. I found BB.com and shared things with people who have also made huge changes in their lives and to their bodies. Over the years I have followed people’s progresses and been inspired by their positive and can do attitudes. I’ve laughed at many a funny blog and spent hours reading articles and peoples profiles, and feel sad when someone drops off for a while, then excited when they come back. But those that don’t - I wish you well! I’ve surpassed my original goals and even added more along the way, so I’m not going to be so hard on myself when I take a picture and they look the same as last months.
Visit you all later after my heavy legs workout.

Thought I’d post a copy of my last 12 week programme. I was beginning to get frustrated because I felt I was working hard but seeing little gains, so along with writing my daily log I made an at a glance 12 week log. As you can see I had a lot more rest days than I actually thought I was having even though I keep a log.
My new 12 weeks is a lot more structured in terms of what I need to be doing in each 7 day period. I have 1 day deadlifting, 3 days squatting and 2 days bench pressing. I cycle to work, so that takes care of cardio and I will add in a few days of HIIT whenever I can.
I no longer keep a diary of my food intake I just eat clean 24/7 (well most of the time). I am trying to lose fat though, so I may start a food diary again soon.
Noticed that uploaded images a tad bit small so I have also uploaded them elsewhere.

This afternoon was heavy bench day, I usually do my workouts in the morning, but I am not very enthusiastic when it comes to bench pressing possibly because I am not very good at it and my progress has been slow -in fact I stopped doing them altogether until just recently. Anyway I kept telling myself I’ll do it in an hour - then it was 3pm. It was now or never!
So this afternoon my programme was Squats 6×6 @ 46kg, then Bench 1×10 @ 50%,1×6@60%, 1×4x@70%,4×6@80%. I actually enjoyed this session, probably because I was benching properly, squeezing my glutes & using my legs has really helped. It’s funny how you know what you should be doing, but then don’t do it and wonder why you have not made any progress. Lesson learnt for today - make sure I use proper form. My 1 RM is about 40kg so if I can get up to my own body weight soon I’ll be happy. Friends thanks for the encouragement I have been getting - much appreciated.

My son called me last night from Germany to tell me that my nephew Terry won his fight against Justin Bucholz. He won submission of the night with a D’arce choke. Congratulations Terry! Now I am off to do some heavy squatting.
