"To be ripped so I can finally see my pecs for what they are not what they look like at this moment. that is what happens when you lose 100lbs, adipose tissue does not go away. As well as skin."

I have come to a fork in the road with school

January 6, 2008

While I was filling out what motivated me on this web site, I had a light bulb moment.  I wrote down that being able to do anything physical was my biggest motivator.  Well i was just thinking about that and I am now considering changing my major from human nutrition to physical education  because I just realized how much my weight training and my love for fitness has had a real impact on who I am.  I think I owe it all the to the wonderful gym teachers I have had.

My elementery school gym teacher laid the foundations of physical activity in a fun non judgemental way.  I say a non judgemental way beacause I was an overweight/obese kid all the way up to grade 9.  He seemed to see the potential in me to become more physically active.

In junior high I was blessed with another great gym teacher name Mr lowen.  He gave me so much encouragement at a time when I really needed it.  For example,  In grade 7 we had to run a mile and It took me 16 minutes.  I finished last and I was so upset about that.  But my gym teacher was there to encourage me improve my run and by Grade 9 I ran a 9 minute mile run.  Mr Lowen also got me into weight training which was the best thing he could have done for me.  Finally Mr Lowen helped me start my life style change to loss weight.  I started at 285lbs and I am now 185 lbs.

My Highschool gym teacher Mr schrodier, taught me how to stay active through out life and he helped foster my leadership skills by inviting me to join his grade 12 leadership class.  Which I found coaching kids was such a great experience.

In conclusion, this has been an enlightening experience.  I now have to ponder on this for the next couple days.  This is my first blog so I hope you enjoyed it.  :)
