I have been challenging a lot of my clients to pick a favorite song of theirs and plank the entire time. You go into a side plank on the chorus’. I have been doing it to Paralyzer by finger eleven. My goal for my bootcamp is to do it to Freebird.

I just read this book at Barnes and Noble and OMG!!!! I have an 8 year old daughter and if she ever picked it up and read it I think she’d learn more about cuss words than eating right. Not that I don’t cuss. At times, I could pass for a sailor, but I’ve never read a book that was so blunt. I understand the point of writing the book but the way it is written makes it extremely limited in its possible audience. Also, one thing that they wrote that bothered me was skinny=healthy, fat=unhealthy. I think everyone on this website knows that skinny does NOT = healthy. I wouldn’t want to be skinny…I want to have some curves. I can’t stand looking at women who are so skinny that if you hit them they would break.

I have been doing hills for a little over a year and I have to admit that they are by far some of the highest intensity cardio I’ve ever done. For me, they beat sprints…..only if you do them a certain way. If you run down forward after every hill, the soreness is nothing. Walk down backwards after EVERY time and see how you feel. It is by far the best calf workout I’ve ever done. If I haven’t done hills in a while (a couple weeks or more) my calves will scream for 2 days. I do them with my bootcamp every saturday morning. Try it, you’ll get addicted to them. My ladies love doing them….its a love/hate relationship.

Yesterday I was asked to be a speaker at a doctors seminar. This seminar is going to be about how doctors of all kinds should start prescribing exercise more to ALL of their patients. If their is enough interest across the board, they may turn it into a certification for the docs which would be cool. But I will start a thread in the forums about this but I will start to look into the reasons why health insurance does not cover fitness. How nice would it be if your health insurance covered your gym membership and supplement costs?

so i’ve had a cold/bronchitis for almost a week now….quite annoying. didn’t keep me from working out but combine that with that time of the month and the diet went out the window. i think when i lose the ability to smell, i lose the ability to feel satisfied with my meals. i didn’t totally blow it, but it was far from ideal. i made some fiber one apple cinnamon muffins and i have to say that those are delicious!!! and very easy to make. oh well….mostly back on track now. made all my food for the week on sunday and just have to make dinners for my sister and daughter today for the rest of the week and we all should be back on track!!!

so a new Golds gym opened up about a year ago by my house. Very very nice looking but since I have my own gym in my basement, I never bought a membership. I have been meeting a friend of mine at 24 hour Fitness to workout just to change things up a bit so when our times didn’t mesh I broke out my one week pass to Golds and went this morning. Not 2 machines in and I had to help the person next to me b/c if I didn’t she was going to hurt herself. The gym did not even have a deadlift platform. I stood on 2 45 pound plates so that I could reach my full range of motion on my deadlifts. I also love the multi-hip machine b/c it works my glutes out very well and they lacked that. It just goes to show that looks are not everything. oh….and I used to work at a different golds gym. My favorite public gym of all time was this old school gym that was owned by a fireman. I was the only girl there. It was all hammer strength and dumbbells. No machines!!! The best gym ever!!!

ok…..that was interesting. the fact that we got out of the car to start the marathon said alot but to actually finish it was amazing. the rain and wind were coming at us so hard it felt like I was the target at a BB gun range. We finished in a little under 2 1/2 hours!!!! It was great!!! Our next one is in April!!! No hurricaines in April!!!

So I posted my starting pics!!! I will post once a week to monitor my change. I am always on bodyspace looking at peoples progress and I think it is phenomenal. I don’t like putting up half naked pics but you see the change best when you’re in your birthday suit. FYI…..using a camera phone while trying to take a decent back shot is extremely hard:) Off to workout!!:)
