i try to take my fats in only through things like nuts. protein bars are also good as well as other low fat type bars aka granola. those work. maybe put some protein in a shaker and drink that in class. don't overtrain. its key.

i always heard that a full body is better for a beginner, and after a year or so of training, then go to the split. beginners can make huge gains with a full body, but experienced lifters need more time to recuperate. best of luck to you!

Hey guys! I think what Garvey was aying is that his goal is 20 minutes of running. Not a bad goal really at all. I do agree with that you should not give up lifting weights.remember muscle burns calories fat stores it!

If you really want to rip down then drop the weight and increase the reps. look into circuit training it gets the blood pumping and you will notice a change.

Good luck bro!

What is recommended as a basic percent split is a 40/30/30. This means 40% protein, 30% carbs, 30% fats. You use this for a guideline cause as you gain or loose weight you'll change your diet. Also if you gain fat easy you may lower your carbs and fat intake. ALRI recommended 18 calories per body pound. Just so you know, when figuring out how much food that is, 4 calories per gram of protein and carbs, and 9 calories from each gram of fat.

Since you are 14 you are starting at a perfect time, I would reccomend just being consistent with your training and eating, and learn as much as you can from reading everything. Also, once you start learning I would try to find someone to work with you, preferably someone into bodybuilding at your gym. And always listen to your body.

Good luck,

Neither.
You need both to gain muscle. However there are a few rules:
1) Eat 6 small meals a day that contain carbs, protien and a fruit or vegetable.
2) Eat whole wheat carbs (no white stuff, no sugar, etc.)
3) Eat only lean protien (chicken breast, egg whites)
4) Keep portion size under control

Good luck

Hey buddy, it's good that you're setting these goals and workin hard, but you can go about this better. Do not take a week off of lifting to focus on cardio! Don't do so much cardio either - 20 miles a day - that's crazy! You don't need to do anything like that. What you need to do is weight train 3-5 times a week, and do cardio on the days you don't weight train or you can do cardio after the weights for 10-20 min. I do my cardio in the morning and then weights at 5:30pm - you could try that if you want. I only do 30 min 5x a week and 10 min after Sat. workout. Building muscle is what you want to do - it will help with burning fat. Also, eat good, clean, balanced meals... eat 6-7 smaller meals every 2-3 hrs to speed up your metabolism. Trust me... I know it sounds weird, I thought the same thing at first. Now my metabolism is sped up and I'm hungry after 2 hrs and I only need a small meal to fill me up.
