IDA is a wimp…

IDA has left the building… Not even a very good rain event…

Second order of business…..Happy Birthday Devildogs

During the American Revolution, many important political discussions took place in the inns and taverns of Philadelphia, including the founding of the Marine Corps.

A committee of the Continental Congress met at Tun Tavern to draft a resolution calling for two battalions of Marines able to fight for independence at sea and on shore.

The resolution was approved on November 10, 1775, officially forming the Continental Marines

As the first order of business, Samuel Nicholas became Commandant of the newly formed Marines. Tun Tavern’s owner and popular patriot, Robert Mullan, became his first captain and recruiter. They began gathering support and were ready for action by early 1776.

Each year, the Marine Corps marks November 10th with a celebration of the brave spirit which compelled these men and thousands since to defend our country as United States Marines.

The rest, as they say, is history…… Semper Fi

and lastly, my abbreviated workout at home this morning on ye old Bowflex…..

Lat Pulldowns - 3 sets
Seated Rows - 3 sets
Cable Bench - 3 sets
Side Laterals -3 sets

Crunches - 25 x 3 sets
Pushups - 10 x 3 sets

Treadmill - 20 minutes w/ 5 minute cooldown

Diet is pretty stable, but unfortunately, so is my weight the last couple days.. I am hovering at the 239-240 mark, but I do see improvements around my waist area, so I am not too concerned with what the scale says…

Weight:240.2
Diet: 1820 (255/62/58) (P/C/F)

Nice USMC history lesson, most of which I was unaware. of.

A big thanks to all those who have served since then.

  2. flabouy Says:

Sadly, most of this country has forgotten its proud and hard fought history. The thought that comes to mind is we are in an era where Atlas is beginning to shrug….. I am reminded every day now of something Sinclair Lewis warned of way back in 1935…"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross." Today’s population is more concerned with being a conservative, a liberal, a Christian, a Muslim, or any other label that distinquishes them from the pack…. Most have long forgotten how to be an American first, and an individual second… Semper Fi
