The Bloody Battle of Beautifully Built Bodies in the Posedown Showdown of Competitive Bodybuilding
After individuals develop their bodies through resistance training, what are they to do with these well-formed physiques and figures?
Some use the strength they’ve gained from their muscle-building regime to excel in sports. Others simply enjoy the health and self-esteem benefits of a fit, athletic build.
The rest go to war. The latter group dares to step on stage and do battle with other well-built individuals to determine the best of the best. They declare, “I possess a warrior’s passion for the art of building my body. Let me show you.”
They show this dedication by entering bodybuilding competitions and going toe-to-toe, bicep-to-bicep and quad-to-quad with fellow physique artists in a war of poses to present what they believe is the body of a champion.
But, what is this posedown showdown in which these muscular architects engage? Is it a bodybuilding “contest” or a bodybuilding “show”…it is war or is it art? I say, both!
In “THE ART OF WAR” A Physique Performance Art and Presentation Series, I examine the craft of displaying living art in the sport of competitive bodybuilding.
Explore my views, insights, interviews and tips regarding the subject of posing and presentation in a multi-part series premiering in the June 2008 issue of Jeff Everson’s Planet Muscle Magazine and on bodybuilding.com.
The next time you enter the battleground that is the Muscle Stage, you’ll have the warrior’s weapons and the artist’s tools necessary to showcase a masterpiece and slaughter challengers who dare to flex in your path to the crown.
