Following that Maximum Fitness magazine Quick Start diet, I lost 13.5 pounds. So I am pretty psyched now. I’ve switched to a healthy eating/carb restricted Abs Diet type plan now. Pretty sure I can reach my goal of 170# by October 10, as I am now at 176.
Best thing about following such a strict plan (meals prescribed every day; no variations) is that I feel I have broken my craving haboit for stuff like pretzels and crackers, etc. I am now used to eating a small healthy meal/snack.
Also back into the groove of working out again. Using a very simple, basic weight program from Bob Paris’s book Natural Fitness.
So, off to a good start. Stay tuned. When I reach 170 I plan to update the profile pic.

It was a good week on the Max Fit Quick Start plan. Lost 8 pounds (I know…much of that is water, but I look less bloated, so that is good) and about half an inch or so on my waist. Judging by the waist decrease, I’d estimate that of the 8 pounds, maybe 3 was actual fat.
This is a strict (and boring) food plan. I was going to do it for just one week ( it is a three week plan) to get a good start, but now I ll do it this second week and maybe even the thi

Trying the Quick Start diet plan from a 2008 issue of Maximum Fitness. High protein, low fat. low/moderate very low glycemic carbs (no bread or any refined flour products; no dairy; no red meat; just chicken and fish and green water-heavy veggies.) Got bloated up on Sunday getting cravings out of the way. Tried this lasyt eyar and it was a good start. Need to follow through this time. Any and all advice welcome. It is REALLY hard to do this at my age!

Just feeling as if I may have shaken whatever it is I’ve had. Slight upward tick in my weight this week and the week before. Valentine’s Day dinner out (pasta, wine, a little white bread) at our favorite spot didn’t help. But eager to clean up the diet and get moving. The goal tracker here is a big help. The grpah shows exactly where I am aheaded, and the calcualtins that say I need to lose 1.5 pounds per week make this seem possible.

I’ve had the flu or whatever for more than a week. Tapered my appetitie, but this also menas not the best week for protein and other helath food. Some dry carb snacking. Really low energy. Can’t wait untiul this clears up so I can get going full steam again.

Lost three pounds in 10 days. Not great, but a start. Focusing on cleaning up my "diet," and fighting cravings. Crunchy/sa;ty things (pretzels!) are my undoing. This week I will get into my workout routine, keep cleaning up the food intake, and drink more water.

My goal is to lose 35 pounds of flab and drop at least 8 inches from my waist. I have tried and failed many times. But I am tired of failing.
And in additon to wanting to look a lot better (i.e. leaner), I am old enough to need to worry about my overall health. Although I am generally in excellent health (but for the weight), the excess weight is likley starting to cause some less than desirable changes in my health. So that needs to change.
My fat loss goal date is June 30.
Wish me luck, and any and all words of advice or inspiration are welcome.
