Answers to questions…

Since being put on the top 6(Thank you all!), my inbox has been flooded with questions/comments/compliments - which is not a complaint, however, I am not able to answer each one, and I don’t want anyone to feel as though I am ignoring your questions & comments/compliments - so I thought the most efficient way to handle it was to post my responses in the blog format.

First to all of you and your amazingly wonderful compliments and comments - THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! I truly appreciate you taking the time to write to me to give me such great compliments!  Each one makes my day fuller!

Secondly, for all of you with training questions, I am not certified, but I can share with you what works for me.  Out of the many questions, there were 3 popular questions.

Question 1:  One of the most common question is about my diet - what do I eat, what supplements do I take, do I measure everything I eat…

Answer:  My daily diet is not complicated.  I eat very regularly, almost every 2-3 hours.  I enjoy protein of many sorts, but mostly skinless chicken.  I try to make sure I have protein at every sitting.  I do like carbs, but try to make sure it’s whole grain.  I don’t eat much fruits, and don’t mind vegetables, even though I should eat them more often than not.  I don’t measure any items.  I keep everything to a good/appropriate portions.  As for supplements, I drink a protein supplement after my weight training.  I usually have a small protein/carbs meal after my cardio training.  I do enjoy coffee - so I have one cup every morning.  As for junk, I don’t ever drink sodas, I don’t drink alcohol (occassional glass of wine, but very seldom). I do have a sweet tooth, so I do have a "sweet" once a week.

 Question 2:  What types of ab exercises do I perform?

Answer:  I vary them each time.  But I do try to work them in the order of lower/mid/upper abs.  I feel the lower abs exhaust quicker, so I work them first then move up.  I do many different variations of leg raises to bicycles to toe touches to traditional crunches and hanging leg raises.  But I am always willing to try new variations of exercises to keep my abs shocked.

 Question 3:  Heavy or light weights? 

I really, really enjoy lifting heavy!  I’m not afraid to gain size (as a female, I know it won’t "bulk" me up), I LOVE muscle, the more I have the more I like!  I like to train like a dude - heavy weights, lower reps.  But the most important point for me is to keep my workouts cycling from week to week - it keeps me excited to lift, plus it shocks my muscle in different ways each week.  I do take a week off from time to time to recover and come back stronger the following week.

    Ditto on last point…..I like to vary my workouts every wk or two also for the same reasons. Keeps the w/o’s more fun & they don’t get stale, as well as preventing them from adapting. Great post Faith. :D

    Hey, I will join the chorus of well wishers - you look AMAZING! And I love that you love to lift heavy. Can you put up some of your lifting stats? How much can you squat, leg press, curl…etc.? Also, a personal question for you - do you find that guys are generally turned on (or away) by the fact that you can probably outlift many of them? I’ve told my story to a few of the girls on the site - which is that i’m a petite girl who for years only did cardio for fear of getting "too big". My husband encouraged this too, saying weights were manly. Anyway, once we saw girls on this site who pump serious iron and look AMAZING, i got into it. Meanwhile my man got really busy at work and he’s kind of bookish anyway, and soon enough I was leg pressing/squatting more than him. The irony is he LOVES it. It’s to a point that I he ASKS me to hold him down with my legs. So… I was curious if you get the same reaction from dudes or me and my husband are just the freaks that enjoy the role reversal? You don’t have to answer if it is too personal and either way, I want to thank you for your posts and blog, keep it coming. MAYA

    I love that you lift heavy! I’m starting out and I like to lift heavy too, i get tired of nay saying women trying to tell me I’ll get "bulky". Sigh, they never listen.
