Santa told to lose weight? R U Serious..
In the spirit of the holidays I decided to write this blog to get the bb community’s opinion. Apparently the U.S. Surgeon General has told Santa Claus he needs to lose weight because he is a bad example to children! http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,314641,00.html
Uhm..geez how do I put this..Parents YOU not SANTA is responsible for teaching your children healthy eating habits, stay active as a family, etc. We (parents) are supposed to be the role models not St. Nick..is society really trying to tell me that if Santa is skinny the kids will slim down? Not if Momma & Daddy are eating pizza and Mikey D’s every night because they are too "busy". Santa could lose 10 lbs and then what? If the parents aren’t educated or willing to cook healthy portion appropiate sized meals then there will be no change in America’s childhood obesity problem. Get your kids off of the computer or PS3 and enroll them into some group sports or just as a family go walking in evening. It is time we take responsibility for ourselves and our children’s weight issues…Santa is supposed to eat his cookies and deliver the damn toys! Weigh in BB.com…what do you think about Jolly St. Nick’s slimdown request?

while I agree its not a very effective idea, its something, and why people get stuck on one particular american version of santa I dont know, he is different things with different stories in every nation, and has changed over the years, our current idea is based on a childrens poem "the night before christmas" not a real person, let the image and idea shift and change if thats how society wants to veiw him. Maybe a skinney santa isnt that bad of an idea, how else will he fit down the chimneys?

Point taken.. nothing wrong with a slimmed Santa jsut thinks its hilarious and kinda ridiculous that it is coming from US Surgeon General..I know he has something else to do! lol

Sadly, it’s another example of how our society would rather have us blame someone or something else for a problem, a disorder, a nuisance, etc….rather than accept that we have a problem (etc.), evaluate it and then make adjustments to correct the root cause.
