Billy’s got my back…

Ok so it is no secret I am no cardio bunny…especially on the cardio machine! (Ok I kinda like the epillitical) BUT I was at the gym this morning and about 5 minutes into my cardio how in the hell was I gonna get an hour in?  I realized that I am not feeling the treadmill, the bike, or the epillitical trainer today. I was only 5 minutes into it and was over it! But I had a great idea.. lol So I grabbed my water bottle, towel, and keys and yep I got into my car and drove home. So now before you all start scolding me I went home and I pulled out my Billy Blanks DVD..Yep I forgot that I LOVE to TaeBo so I am taking it back a little bit. I have them all..The very first series all the way up to whatever one he is showing on his newest informal!  So this week I am gonna do my cardio at home with Billy and hit the gym for my true love, the weights. This will keep it fresh and new and I already know it threw my body into shock. Plus I feel like I can beat up anybody..lol I will be hurting tonight. So if you all need a change and if you got Billy around the house pop him in and get a really good workout!

Ladies you all know when you are excited about something new in your life you have those special people you turn to..your mom, your man, and/or your girls. Well when I decided it is time to get into shape (the right way) and STAY in shape I let all of my loved ones know. They were very supportive and encouraging…well I thought they were..lol. I guess due to the confusion on what actually works to get back into shape my girls thought I meant I was going to do 30 mins of cardio 3x week, doing Atkins, and drink lots of Crystal Light! As you all know it takes much more than that…I guess I should have explained that I was going to cut out drinking, staying up late, eating crap, and if they wanted to catch me they were going to have to hit me on my PDA cause I am at the gym…yes for longer than 30 mins. So I still go out for the lunch date (I just order my food real simple..grilled chicken, steamed green veggies, plain baked potato and water with lemon please). I look up from the menu with disguisting looks as if I just order poo on a stick with extra sauce! lol  After answering 100 questions on why I do this and that I start to get irritated that I am justifying being healthy. My girl is sensing I am getting hot and she makes sure to bring up my great results over this month and she announces she is going to go to the gym with me and get her act together! Yay I have converted someone over… Hold your applause people..we get to the gym we stretch (check), we cardio for 45 mins; she didn’t even complain I was amazed (check), we get off drink some water, we grab our towels, and I walk towards the free weights and she is at the damn juice bar! "Hey girl we need to hit these weights first then we will get a nice protein shake".  She responses, " I don’t want to get big like a man I don’t do weights!" I plead, I explain all of my changes have been due to lifting weights..she is unsure and she gives into the weight machines but not free weight (you know cause it is for men). I explain I like the "men" ones so we split up and met 45 mins later at the Juice Bar. She called me later and explained she has my back with wanting to get fit but she is not disciplined enough for it. She told me I was too extreme with "it", leading to a huge dispute about female muscles and all the sterotypes about lifting.  I offered to help her learn the ropes..but that person has to WANT it. I love the rush I get when I push myself in the gym..I am not going to justify it! I WANT MUSCLES. I THINK THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL..

She is still my girl but we see things so opposite. She may change her mind as I transform..you never know.

Let’s just chalk it up to a difference in opinion!

Getting back into the swing of things….

Well I am new to blogging but I figure what better way to document the ups and downs of getting back into working out after letting yourself go? I was in good shape prior to having my son almost 4 years ago and since then it has been a crazy rollercoaster ride. i would get so disappointed with my slow progress, giving into the BS fad diets instead of going with the tried and true..hard work and sticking it out! With being a single mom, working outside of the home (at the time) and trying to be a good mommy I completely felt overwhelmed with getting back in shape. I am pretty knowledgeable about what to do to get in shape; it was about scheduling the time and making the right decisions food wise. Well no excuses anymore I am ready to take my body back (this one I have is an imposter..LOL) Since getting back into working out I feel stronger everyday, my mood has improved, endurance is up and motivation is solid! This ole girl will be back in no time then all hell is gonna break loose!
