Progress is there…

… it’s just playing "hard to get".  My muscles are such a tease!  :-P

Because it is fall/winter and I am fighting against my body’s imperative that I put on fat for insulation for the winter, I have decided that I need to readjust my goals slightly.  I’m still going to be shooting to lower my bodyfat, but I’m going to go with smaller increments for now.  As of this morning my bodyfat percentage was 21.6.  So the first goal is to get below 21%.  Once I hit that target, I will aim for 20%, then 19%, etc.  I think/hope that by changing my focus a bit, it will help me to not feel like such a failure when I see slow progress in the bodyfat dropping.  In the spring, it is much easier for me to drop bodyfat quickly, so my goals will be more lofty once we get past Jan/Feb.

Typically in the winter months I put on about 10 pounds (insulation, don’cha know! lol).  So another goal is to not put on any weight over the holidays.  Right now my weight is fluctuating from 125 - 128 pounds.  Considering my normal weight used to be 139 - 142 at this time last year I am doing much better this year than last year!  But 139 is unacceptable to me this year (and every year hereafter).  Actually, going above 130 (unless it is pure muscle) is unacceptable to me now.  I try not to focus on scale weight too much, but quite honestly if I am lifting weights and staying consistent with my eating then I shouldn’t have to worry about the scale weight going up.  But if I’m not eating clean, drinking beer, eating sweets/sugar, etc, then watching the scale gets me back on track extremely quickly when I see it creep up the dial.  It’s a mind thing.  But seeing it, is a powerful motivator for me to straighten my act up! :-)

The workouts that JAnthony has me on are super effective.  I can feel new muscle below this layer of bodyfat.  And I will be excited to take progress pictures that show how well they work.  So my muscles can be coy for now, but come spring they better be ready to put out! :-)   C’mon muscles, come out and play!

I like the smaller, short term goals myself too. I guess it means I can have more feelings of accomplishment.
What a difference a year makes in the weight department, nice!
I guess I was thinking about work too much and forgot the quote…go figure, I like the one you posted though…thanks for those. Keep working hard K and have a great day.

You are on a great path. Janthony does a great job from all I have seen, and you have the right drive. Give ‘em hell.

Great job this past year KP. And knowing yourself, all the better. You’re prepared to deal with the winter season. Keep rocking the workouts.

I think the change in perspective as we move through different seasons of the year will be helpful to both of us. Using shorter term goals that fit the season are going to increase our likelihood of success. And thanks again for working on my progress pics. I’ve gotten lots of supportive compliments today.

I’m with you on the weight thing… or more correctly the BF% limits. I’ve been doing that for years now and it works quite well. Keep on keepin on!

I only weight myself to figure me lean body mass based on my measured bodyfat. That helps me fine tune my diet and have a REAL number to place in the ‘added muscle’ column.

When I first started, I would step on the scale every morning and every night, record it and I was amazed at the variations. I could easily loose or gain as many as 5 pounds in a single day. Once I figured out that anything more than once a week would be nothing but maddening, I decided to only do it when I was also taking BF readings or for the hell of it.

I think focusing on consistant workouts and diet will get you through the winter without the added ‘winter coat’. You’ve made the decision that you don’t want that weight coming back, now just keep it from happening. The good thing is you know exactly what you should and should not do.

    Give it hell, Fight Club!

Follow the swinging shiny silver thing with your eyes and listen to my voice…

in the wintertime, beer tastes bad…
in the wintertime unclean food tastes worse than bad beer…
in the wintertime eating sweets and sugars tastes worse than beer and unclean food combined.

Now when I count to three you will believe everything I just told you. 1….2….3

Okay, hope this helps. Your goals should be pretty easy to reach this year. : )

I feel sort of the same way. I know there has got to be progress I have made (exception of this past 2 weeks), but I just can’t seem to find the damn muscles. I stay within 2-3 pounds on the scale as far as weight, but not factor on bf% as I have not had a reading. I just know it is higher than I want as I can feel some good ‘ol muscle, I CAN’T SEE IT! It is playing hard to get. Anyway, sounds like you are on a good track so keep that focus. I may try another fatburner soon, so if you have a suggestion….and besides, you still look fab :D
