Finally, my first BB comp was last November, NPC Texas State, and I took first in Women’s LW Novice. I worked so hard with training, posing and diet but my legs just did not cut in comparison to my upper body. I almost quit so many times but my husband kept me going. He had a hard time with my diet moodiness but he did not want me to give up. It was definitely worth it, even though I did not do well with Masters. Back stage was a blast! Especially meeting so many body building greats (check out my pics). I’m glad to have done it but not sure if I will do another. At least I have some great memories.

Recently took time away from my laptop to focus on training. Diet is brutal, especially when I cut fat and carbs. No energy for training but realized lack of lifting results in muscle loss. Every week my body analysis is done using biometric scale measuring lean body mass, body fat and comparison of right, left, upper and lower body parts. Changes are made to my diet & training based on results. Thanks to Daniel from Lean Nutrition (McAllen, TX), I can see great difference in my build. With Daniel’s help I hope to do very well in my first BB competition this November. I intended to compete this October in Gold’s Classic but just did not have the time or dedication to make it. I skipped some lifting, wasn’t that consistent with cardio and saw how this hurt my progress. Six weeks to go and I am back on track!

I met with my trainer & nutritionist yesterday for contest prep diet & workouts. Apparently everyone responds differently to white and brown carbs. I was so convinced the starch in white rice and potatoes really bad for the body. Great part of hiring a trainer is tweaking my diet each week. I’m going to start eating white carbs to see if I bloat or lean. Will switch if not achieving desired results. So here’s my new diet and split:

AM - Cardio Monday through Sunday…constant cardio!
5:00 - 2 Hydroxy Cut
5:30 - 45 minutes cardio MHR 70-80%; Spinning, Stair Stepper or fast-paced Treadmill walk on high incline
7:00 - 2 Super Earth multi-vitamins, 2 Thyrolean, 6 egg whites, 3/4 cup of plain oatmeal
10:00 - 4oz chicken breast, 6oz white potato, 1/2 cup broccoli

PM-
1:00 - 2 multi-vitamins, 2 Thyrolean, 4oz Tilapia, 3/4 cup white rice, 1/2 cup broccoli
4:00 - 4oz super lean ground beef, 4oz white potato
4:30 - 1 serving White Flood (NO2)
5:00 - Lift 55 minutes non-stop intensity; high rep with max weight while keeping good form (see split below)
6:00 - 1 scoop Isopure zero carb whey with 1 scoop Volugro (creatine & glycogen loader) & water
7:30 - 2 multi-vitamins, 2 Thyrolean, 4oz Tilapia, 1/2 cup broccoli
8:30 - 3mg Melatonin
9:00 - bed time & set alarm for 10:30 snack
10:30 - 1 scoop ProPeptide (probiotic/ casein protein) with water

New lifting split; train 3 days, off 1, train 2 days, off 1:
Work outs -
1 - Chest & Bis
2 - Quads, Adductor, Abductor & calves
3 - Shoulders & Tris
4 - Back & calves
5 - Hams, Bis & Tris
The trick to this plan is to eat and train the same time daily because the body loves consistency. I will skip the 6pm meal on non-training days and set an alarm to wake for 10:30pm snack. I take the Melatonin to fall asleep for the early morning cardio. Wow, what a plan, wish me luck!

Decided not to let my unemployed butt sit on my couch feeling sorry for myself. I met with my trainer today, scheduled my assessment for tomorrow with his nutritionist. Can’t wait to start my new program. We have 10 weeks to get me to contest shape. Hopefully I can gain 10lbs muscle next 4 weeks and cut down the final 6. Also started quick 4 day clense. Just oatmeal, whole grain brown rice and pure whey & water (no sugar). Not the best tasting whey but just the right amount of protein for this fast. Will start drinking juice tonight through tomorrow then back to solids on Monday.

Managed to pump out legs & back today without taking Hydroxy Cut or Nano and with very little to eat. Never thought I could make it through the workout but really focused on pushing through fatigue. I definitely would have quit had it not been for my friend Erica (bb http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/fitnscoach4life/) and my husband cheering me on. Just knowing that I need show my trainer how serious I am made me forget my hunger.

I spent most of my time last week applying for Personal Trainer position at Gold’s. I heard they could start me out as a floor trainer till my NASM certification was complete. Frustrating process; renewing CPR/AED card, multiple interviews and thinking I had it. I train at Gold’s and was told by the staff they heard I was hired. Worst part was no return call from the guy who interviewed me. I had to catch him before his workout to get an answer. Turns out they have enough people on the floor waiting to test for their certifications so they won’t take me till mine is done. I know I can pass the test at least by mid August. I’ll just continue to try other gyms in this area if Gold’s does not take me. Can’t wait to get off this couch.

Blew off some of that dieting stress over the weekend with some heavy drinking. First time I ever tried Red Bull with Vodka, WOW! Nice buzz with some energy wings! Anyway, took fun pics, got crazy on dance floor and ended up with vertigo. Recovery Sunday was very slow. Monday workout was not much better. Now I know why it takes so much discipline to achieve results in this sport. And yes, I consider BB a valid sport when there is so much work involved with finding a good training split and diet to meet specific needs. Speaking of diet, if I’m going to compete early October then I need to change goals to start cutting now. Thought I could bulk a little but no time for that now. I’ll just increase healthy fat in my diet to support hard training. Thanks to Bodyguard (bb.com member) for giving me that tip. Must be why Mediterranean fat rich diet works for some to shed weight. Keeping in mind that one diet does not fit all I will continue to experiment & hope for the best this October. At least my drinking nights behind me. Can’t wait till night after contest to tie one on again.
