Everything I have read says that empty stomach cardio is best. But if you are doing weights &amp; cardio on the same morning workout I would suggest a protein drink and a piece of fruit before you workout... then it's weights followed by cardio. A protein drink after the workout with some quick digestiving carbs (like dextrose) mixed with whey is good.

I rarely buy anything prepackaged that has more than a few ingredients in it. I found that my energy levels dramatically changed after eating cleaner.

My kids always get fruit for snacks to bring to school and lunches are always brought from home. MAYBE once or twice a month I let them pick the school lunch they want from the cafeteria.

It makes a difference in their performance at school too. They're not all wound up like the other kids.

Lean protein is good but many times fruit is a real problem source for anyone trying to lose weight. One of the reasons why a number of fruits are actually counterproductive for weight loss is because of their sugar content. I have found that berries are not a problem, blue, black and strawberries are all great and keep your blood sugar from rising. I enjoy them with my oatmeal in the morning and many times in either my cottage cheese or as a topping on my chocolate protein pudding at night.
