Last night I started the "Showtime" workout from the July issue of Muscle and Fitness. Man, this workout is going to kick my @$$! I’m used to supersets. But not supersets of the same body part. Man that was intense. Also not used to doing three sets of cardio throughout. I haven’t sweated that bad in a workout in a long time. For everyone who reads my blog (Doug, I’m talking to you!) this is definitely a great workout. I’ve only had one day of sweet torture, but I can already tell. My only concern is overtraining. I may have to cut back a set here and there to avoid over doing it. I’ll keep you posted.
I’ve also gone cold turkey with sodas. Two days now and no Dr. Peppers. "They" say its probably mostly diet when it comes to fitness. I think the last thing I read said like 70% diet, 25% exercise, and 5% supplements. But they go hand-in-hand. I am never motivated to eat right if I’m not working out regularly. As far as supplements, I am easily lured by all the awesome supplements out there. It’s easy to get carried away. I am sticking to protein, creatine, fish oil, and multi vitamins. I want to meet my goals the good old fashioned way by good whole foods and free weights. We shall see. I may try some stacks down the road.
Well. Long post. My bad. Now that I’m back in the saddle, I will be updating regularly.
PEACE!

In typical fashion…bad news first. I underestimated the task at hand and the garage did not get cleaned out this weekend. However I heard rumors about the crazy good deals at Freedom Fitness (formerly Reaction Fitness and formerly Gold’s Gym) here in Lawton. The good news it that my wife and I now have gym membership for $19.95 a month. That’s for both of us! And the sign up fee was only $5! Membership is month to month. I can cancel anytime with no penalty! This is crazy. I don’t see how they stay in business only charging ten bucks for a gym membership. And it’s a big gym with lots of equipment. As I said, it used to be a Golds Gym. Then Reaction Fitness bought it. And now it’s Freedom Fitness. But it’s pretty much all the same equipment from when it was Golds. Anyway, I’m pretty excited. I still plan on getting my garage cleaned out for those days I just don’t want to go anywhere or I need to squeeze in a quick workout. I had a brutal arm workout last night. I know I’m going to be sore tomorrow and I love it!

The wife and I agreed not to go anywhere or make any plans this weekend. The garage will be cleaned this weekend. Tools will be organized. Dusty old crap will be thrown away. Excercise equipment will be unearthed!

I played football this last weekend. I had a great time. I have a bad habit of going all out on every run. But I noticed that I fatigued a lot sooner than I expected. And I’m still a little sore today! I’ve always been tall and skinny and active. So cardio has never been on the top of my list for training. Five minutes for warm up and that’s it. But now that I don’t get out there and just run and play like I used to (plus the fact that I have a desk job) I think cardio is going to have to be an integral part of my "transformation".
