Reflux
Thanks to all for the support I've given for my ongoing issue (about 9 days now) with heart palpitations/jumps that are likely being caused by acid reflux.
Unfortunately recovery as been slow and frustrating. I am still experiencing them every few minutes and while this is a minor improvement from the every-60 seconds in the first few days, it's discouraging that this is hindering my lifting and as a result I am fighting getting depressed about it. Seeing continual progress in my body was so encouraging and put me on such a high; seeing myself shrink back obviously has the opposite effect. While I did lift the day before yesterday, it was a light session because of this issue.
Another frustrating component is I'm not entirely sure what is causing them. Doc is treating them "the easy way" for now with prescription level Prilosec which is what cured them 3-4 years ago when I had them then, but it's not a for sure thing unless more advanced tests are done. I am supposed to see him again for those tests if things don't improve.
Evidence, at least in my own mind, points to acid reflux as the culprit. In retrospect I was doing a lot of things wrong, particularly eating right before bed and then having a protein shake right after that. Laying flat it must have wreaked havoc on my esophogus. Worse, first thing I did in the morning is drink coffee and then continue drinking caffeine all day to keep myself awake at my desk job. On the day the issue began, a co-worker brought in a tangerine and I ate that after lunch. It's a recipe for reflux.
I am guessing I just have to wait this out unless my insides heal. But I'm getting frustrated and impatient increasingly. I'll try my best to get a light lifting session in tonight.
The one positive is that when you do get back on track after time off from heavy lifting you will get your gains back quickly and your motivation will be high. Anyone that works out regularly knows the frustration you are feeling when you can't go to the gym and hit it hard.
Like mog wrote, we all know that frustration.
.
Sounds like you're still making progress figuring out how to handle the reflux, even if that's not the cause of the palpitations, that should help control any reflux.
Eurozn,
The frustration U are feeling probably is as common as the plateau that I am currently dealing with.
My motivation is high but my body seems to be liking my body weight to stick between 165/170. All we can do is keep our mind and attention focused on our overall goal, suck it up and keeping working hard at the gym while not being afraid to take a few days off from the gym so our bodies can rebound.
Drop me a line anytime bro,

What you describe are classic triggers for me also.
We discussed this previously, but I also have a desk job, and have to make sure I make time every day to get up and about. I cut coffee a long time ago (not so easy for our American cousins!) and fruits such as Orange's are avoided. I also suffer with tomatoe's although I can handle Pizza's fine. Once you have fine tuned your diet, you will be back on track.
