Formula for a good workout

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

I think the formula for a good workout involves three things:

1.  Get done in close to an hour or so.  If you go over you start to tire and it takes forever to finish and you never really hit that apex that you really need.

2.  You feel like you want to throw up at or near then end for 15-30 minutes.

3.  You feel euphoria for 30-60 minutes and then you feel exhausted.

I tweaked around a lot on my chest and shoulders day (today) and sped up to very short (almost no rest) rest periods between sets.  I also am varying the rep ranges more now to hit the various types of muscle fibers more efficiently.  It definitely worked and I had the best workout I have had in years.  I am at the weak and completely wore out stage and it feels great.  Gonna have to get my glutamine in because DOMS is gonna be a killer.  But I look forward to it.  =)

Bad week

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

Last week was a bit of a bad week for me as far as training.  I had too much else going on and did not work out a single time.  I am totally ticked off at myself and plan on getting my sorry butt into gear this week. I'’ll just call last week a small vacation, yeah that’s it a break week.  =)

Made some small changes to my workout I plan on implementing this week and I am excited to try them out, so hopefully it goes well.  Looks like getting down to 370 again what with all the water I been drinking may be a bit tough.  I am gonna have to really get it in gear.

Crystal Light

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

I am not a fan of artificial sweetners for the most part.  But sometimes you gotta have some flavor.  Forgot how much I loved one of these every once in a while, even though the fruit punch and peach tea are the only ones I can stomach.  Going to pick up a bunch more tonight and not soda, LOL.

Sodas the work of the Devil

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Ok, I was slipping on the sodas like every other day and those things have sic calories.  I just crave a Mountain Dew every so often.  So I had to swear them off completely.  My body will thank me eventually I am sure.  I am now 4 days in and had to work not to give in.  I figure like any other diet change, after a week or two I will forget it existed.

Blog Entry

Friday, July 6th, 2007

OK, I have some pics of me at 370 serveral months back.  They are not good!  I am currently using them as motivation, hahaha.  However when I hit my short term goal and get down to 340 I will post the hideous things along with some new and improved ones.  Believe it or not, 370 was not my all time worst, 398 was, that is when I started working out the first time (because I freaked out that I was almost off the scale, literally).  So I was actually even more of a land-monster at one point, LOL.

Getting off to a good start.

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Well, after three months of working out at home at least 2-3 nights a week, I put on weight.  To be honest, I am not shocked.  I totally expected it to happen.  I had not worked out in two years, there was bound to be some major growing going on.

Now I am up to 5 nights a week of hitting the weights and getting in cardio when I can (usually on the weekends).  I have now dropped several pounds (not muscle!!) that I had went up.  My short term goal is to lose enough fat to get my weight back down to where I was maintaining it without working out (370lbs.).  It should not be too hard to do it in short order, gotta love those big early gains!!

Long term, say next 3-6 months is to not drop the circumference measurements too much (except waist) and get that total poundage down at least 20-30lbs.  So I will be heavy on the weights, light to medium on the cardio and watching the food intake carefully to make sure I am getting enough calories, but not too much.
